Help w/ Higher Education Graduation etiquette?

Posted by Fivefires on April 25, 2007, at 21:31:14

What R responsibilities of mother to son beyond 'hosting party' & 'order & send announcements'?

Is 'buying a boutteniere' proper etiquette?

He hasn't a girlfriend currently.

Any 'thoughts' or 'unique sentimental gift ideas on a budget' would be sincerely appreciated.

Has any1 ever 'really regreted' not purchasing their class ring?

I'd ask my mo*her these things, butt 'we don't even compunicate' at this time.

~~~ That's pretty much the biggie tasks....
> Is 'buying a boutteniere' proper etiquette?
~~~ You can, I don't know many who have, if it's a college grad.

~~~ Doing a photo album is an option or a scrapbook. We got my daughter a nice frame for her diploma and got her a refillable day planner (encouraging getting a job where she would have a schedule to maintain and know about ---- Smile). Watches are always good too.
~~~ Depends on the person. Most I know don't wear 'em after a few years. Some desire them, some don't, maybe ask your grad's preference and thoughts.

I've never ordered or worn a class ring.

Think about high school. Is your kid the kind of person who would have had a class ring in h.s.?

If not, then you are prob. off the hook.

Ask to make sure, though. say that there are lots of different kinds and that you want to make sure to get the right one, but only if it's meaningful to you.

my only ornaments from graduating college is a stuffed owl and a key. I think my diploma is still in an envelope.

hmm

My hub never desired a college class ring. Of course when he graduated from undergrad, the guy's rings could double as large ornate napkin rings. It is good there are now expanded choices.

I was going to totally dismiss ring re: cost, and feeling pretty sure he wouldn't wear one, but it would be nice for me to ask him. I'll do that.

I'm thinking your owl is a piggy bank that came w/a key. Hmmm

U'r always such a riot L.

The ones I saw were huge. Yeah, the large for guy, small for girl thing too tunnel-visioned for me. I don't like these suggestions of one personality being larger than other, or for that matter one persons hands always being larger others. (I won't say what just popped into my head. Nahhh.) Second marriage I got a wide gold band and he a slim gold band. Trendsetting.

And then there's the 'guy thing about doing handy work and getting their ring caught on machinery' and .. well .. losing the finger and the right!
