Boring ... Need stainless steel sink cleaner

Posted by Fivefires on March 30, 2007, at 17:10:57

No, not a man ... Ha! Gotcha! Didn't I? Ok.

Both would be nice tho'; in same pkg. Then I could just 'put him away' when I'm done w/ him! Ha ha!

No, seriously.

I have the c-spine prob' so I can't do the hard wiping u need to do on my stainless steel sinks. Then of course u can't use abrasives!

So, any1 know a good product?

Do we have a Babbleland Queen of Clean in the audience? (I'm goin' off the deep end again~!)

The 'real queeen' lives here. Yeah; I live by famous peeps; so makes me a famous peep livebyer.

It's expensive 2 have all the stuff she says u need 4 cleaning.

I have 'one' of her books. Was flippin' thru it the other day and saw a 'toilet tip'.

Said drop two denture tabs in your toilet overnight. (I thought .. & your teeth too?) No. I'm bein' silly. And no, my teeth don't come out; yet anyway.

She's gotten a lot of books published. I just bought the first one. Can't find 'her way' of stainless steel sink cleaning.

after you clean your sink, you can protect it from future stains by using some car wax on it, and it will shine like a pretty stainless steel penny! LOL

Tks guys.

From my 'Queen Of Clean' book, I put baking soda in the disposal and then pour in vinegar (there's a volcano) and wait 30m till rinse for cleaning the disposal, once a month.

Sink 'spots a lot', but I'm not sure u'd say it is 'deposits'. MayB; no soft water.

I'd think if I combined baking soda and vinegar it would do the same thing volcano thing in the sink, but I'e got gloves, so I will try it. Thank you.

I'll try anything if it's very simple.

I've got to do something which doesn't take muscle and takes little time.

I'm sooooooo weak and sooooooooo teary 2day.

I thought to post 'Feelings I'm dying'.

I'm literally holding myself up by leaning on desk and keyboard. My eyes are drooping down. The corners of my mouth, I know w/o looking in a mirror, are turned downwards. My eyes are half open. My legs are weak.

I don't have the strength to start a new thread.

I don't know what's draining the 'life force' from my body.

I believe I've been 'inpatient' three times in my life. At least two were in April.

'pends on what the problem is.

Streaks/loss of shine often respond to vinegar. Wipe/spray it on (I have vinegar in a spray bottle for lots of cleaning issues), give it 20 minutes, and wipe/rinse it off. Repeat until shiny.

If you're impatient, make a watery paste with baking soda. This one also will work if you just leave it on the surface for a while, but elbow grease is generally added.

A little olive oil wiped around on a paper towel will give a polished look, after you get the surface grunge off with the above methods.

I'll try vinegar in water bottle method.

Is it 'a disinfectant'?

Sounds like it will do more work, lessening the need 4 me to put a lot of muscle into cleaning.

Yes. That's why we sometimes pickle food.

Yes, almost zero work required. Just give it a little time, but don't let it dry. You're welcome.

It's a wonderful cleaner, but it is acidic.

Never use it on marble or granite.

Hey I was thinking about this very thing.

I wish I had real marble on my counter tops, but it is that fake looking marble.

Granite I may have ... tile flooring ... is that granite???

Also, I was wondering if I could add some just a bit of some nice scented oil to it. What think?

Baking Soda is a great cleaner plus rant » Fivefires

I posted a big long answer the other day & must have forgotten to click the second time!! It's not here!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-( I hate it when that happens.

Anyway, BAking soda is a superb cleaner.

wet sink, sprinkle baking soda on; leave for 5 minutes or so & rub with a 'scrubbie' - rectangular sponge with green scrubbie slightly abrasive pad on it.

The other day my counter had a big stain on it that wouldn't simply wipe off. I wet it; sprinkled Baking soda on it; left it for about half an hour, wiped it off & was prepared to scrub it but it was GONE!!!!

Lemon juice also is a good stain remover.

We use SO MANY TOXIC cleaning products in our society. My daughter (30) developed environmental illness (MCS - Multiple Chemical Sensitivities). There are only 3 rooms in my house that don't make her feel ill. She has to wear a special mask to go shopping or even in my car.

This has made me VERY aware of all the chemicals we surround ourselves with & put ON our bodies (creams, deodorants, etc, etc....even the shampoo we use). I don't know about other parts of the world, but in Ontario (Canada) we are simply BOMBARDED with 'scented' products - room "fresheners"; air "purifiers" etc, etc....even CD players that "play" scents!!!
And it's ALLLLLLLL CHEMICALS!!!! Yikes.

Sorry for my rant.

Deep breath Kath!! Baking soda rocks!!

luv, Kath

good points kath. very true. and scary. (nm) » Kath
