New Orleans. :)

I think we've turned the corner, coldwise. It's getting hot during the day, with cool underneath. And that's an unmistakeable sign of spring. Shorts are showing up all over. Shorts with jackets, maybe, but shorts. The azaleas will likely bloom soon.

Ahhhh.

Thank you Kath yes it was fixed that AM and to run to my house that time of night/am it cost lol yikes 130.00 just for the call...but as it was snow/ice block it went fast and the guy was nice. It WAS very scary to me because I do not do cold well and have pets that really NEED the heat....Youre very kind thanks....Take care and

Wow - that sounds like a lucrative business to be in!!

What kinda pets do you have? I have a Mali Uromastyx lizard & if it was cold I don't know what I'd do, as she needs it HOT during the daytime. It can get cooler for her at nite, in fact she needs that, but not COLD. She's 14 inches long & like to be held & rub her nose against my cheek. I LOVE her to bits.!!!!!!!!!!

I'm glad it turned out OK.

hugs, Kath

That's what the hip-hop stations call Fort Worth and Dallas around here. Its going to be weird moving to Dallas, I kind of feel like a trader. How am I ever going to learn the highways? They call them by names instead of numbers. Like I75 is Central Expressway' - that's the only one know.

Only problem is that the a/c on my car is broken, and today for the first time, I really minded.

I don't know when I'll have the time (or money) to get it fixed.

Yo Kath..I have 4 turtles...2 very VERY old cats...and a dog...my dog would not have an issue with the cold but the others would. I love lizards too....though I dont have one. I also had taken my sleeping meds when the heat went lol so I am sure the furnace dude thought I was a bit out of it :)

Hey, Poet. Let it be resolved, then, that we are hereinafter to be referred to as palm trees. Now I just need someone willing to plant me in the right place.

Going on two weeks of -30 wind chills, and more to come. :-/

Greetings Fellow Palm Tree,

I'd like to be planted in Hawaii on the beach. I'll allow non-obnoxious tourists to take refuge from the sun under my branches. Obnoxious ones will have coconuts dropped on their heads. Ah, the glorious life of a palm tree...

I'm very fond of coconut juice and apologise for my failure to send mountains, palm trees and warmth as requested.

I live in Australia, Kath, and it takes ages to get those things through customs. You know how it is these days.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Australia!! So now I 'know' a few people in Australia!!

Yes - customs might pose quite a problem!! And of course it might take a new & improved type of plane to fit the mountains in - right??

It's a bit warmer here the last couple of days. And sunny - usually if it's cold there's more of a tendency to sun.

Hope you're having a good day. hugs, Kath

At least I don't have to deal with this.....we've got maybe 15 cm (6 inches) snow, all told.

You know those pictures in the paper of Russians in the water with only their heads sticking out of the ice.
They can stay in there for the best part of half an hour, like without clothes.

Well, if I lived in Connecticut(sp?) or Canada, as a depressive I would have really hot showers and then go outside and roll around in the snow, and then I would repeat it until I felt happy and calm.

My family of origin is Finnish, at least one side, and came from northern Michigan. Taking a sauna and then running out to jump in a snowbank was a pretty normal thing for them. That habit seems to have been bred out by the time you get to my generation. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. :)

I imagine it's a subsection of balneotherapy.
In any case as long as your BP's OK it should be fine.

On the subject of cracking ice, I always wanted to hear the ice break up on the Danube or the Volga.
