Went back from Amsterdam - lost of images

Posted by sdb on October 1, 2006, at 17:52:56

After some holidays in the Netherlands and some more days in the crazy city of Amsterdam I went back home.

Unfortunately it seems that somebody opened a side pocket of my backpack after check-in at airport Schiphol. All things except the digital camera were in the side pocket of the backpack but no more carefully packed in the little plastic sack. I forgot to take out my wallet. Interestingly my wallet and the things within were still there. Normally I would take the wallet with me in the unchecked baggage.

Is it a common phenomena (for you?) that several things of the baggage can miss after check the baggage at the arrival airport?

I was always told not to check my camera in and keep it on me in the plane. In Amsterdam do they still have the boats and the red light district.Love Phillipa

I will take my next camera in the hand luggage too.

There still is the red light district. Parts of such districts are in many corners of the city. You only have to walk in a street next the Amsterdam central railway station and you will see
woman almost naked presenting themself behind big windows of glass. I just walked along a gracht and when I saw
these woman behind the glass I moved my head down and up like a "yes" to signal them my respect and went on to see the Vincent van Gogh museum and some other things. The scenery reminded me to naked animals presented in a cage.

When I was in a arabic country years ago an inhabitant said that it would be unimaginable for him to see a belly button from a family member. Morals, traditions and religious customs or laws seem to vary.

Apart from the cages they still have the grachts with the boats, museums, amsterdam concertgebouw, little restaurants, people from everywhere and much more.

When I arrived in Amsterdam from another part of Netherland I spent the whole day watching things. At twelve o'clock I decided to find an accomodation. Everything was booked out. At last the presidential suite (650$/night) too. I decided to spend the night at a bar. The person I talked with recommended me a hotel reachable by train. Finally I went there in the early morning. But I just walked around and saw a football field surrounded by trees. I decided to use my tiny sleeping bag and slept on the quality grass at the border of that football field observing clouds. The next day I went swimming in the Zwembad in the morning and continued to watch things. No problems
later. Always book early in the day if you're coming more or less spontaneously to Amsterdam.

Airport security (of the sort you mention) became an issue here after Schapelle Corby got caught taking marijuana *into* Indonesia from Australia. The assertion was that some airport staff were using the baggage to move marijuana from state to state and didn't remove it before the bags went overseas.
Around the same time a passenger saw one of the baggage handlers driving the baggage to the plane wearing the head of his camel outfit. He had the camel outfit for some reason and the baggage people had taken it out (when they saw it on the Xray?) and put the head on, and he just happened to see it and naturally knew that it had to be his. (The bottom part of the camel remained in his bag.)
Weird hey?

Hmm... I know its a bit ad homenim and all but...
She had been back and forth to Bali a few times per year for the last few years. Apparantly it is hard to get mj in Bali now and the amount she was caught with would have been about enough to finance a holiday in Bali... Also... Apparantly most of her family members have drug convictions. I wasn't sure what to think... I still think the conviction was way harsh but... After hearing those facts I'm not sure she is innocent after all.

I walked at the beach of an island

www.texel.nl

I went jogging at the beach and after a while I did no more notice that I was running. Actually that never happens to me. But I have some foot link pain until now.

if there is bad weather you really see low clouds wandering

I saw the wooden shoes used by persons walking at the beach. I was wondering how you can walk with such shoes. But it was nice to see.

Just arrived at sunday my mood went down. Somebody wrote me a letter and I had to call him back essentially. But the person was dead.

Have you ever been in the Netherlands?

Yeah, you're never gonna know about Schapelle. But the camel guy was real. There was a photo in the Sydney Morning Herald of the bloke driving the baggage on his tractor thingo with a camel outfit over his head. In the US they shrinkrap their luggage?

It'd be easy to spend time in Amsterdam, hey Phil. 3 maybe 6 months. Walking around at nights, getting lost, trying to remember where you were staying, making sure you'd got the right hotel, cuppla drinks as well. Lots of fun.

Well, yes, that's where the Danube is. Starts in Germany and ends in Roumania (I think), with interesting places in between. Budapest??
