How to survive school Depression? HELP

Posted by JerryPharmStudent on September 18, 2006, at 1:21:01

I'm stuggling so much with my depression these days. I'm trying to maintain my full-time school status. Microbiology, Anatomy & physiology, Algebra and COmputer Networking. My motivation is non-existant. I have 2 big exam this coming week and I have yet to crack a book.

I can't stop school - it's not a choice. If I were to cut down or stop - I'd go deeper into depression with it being more difficult to come out of.

I just need support - I need friendship.

Help me.

AWESOME. I got an anatomy and physiology textbook out over last summer (your winter) and started reading it. I found it really very interesting. Reading about organ systems and levels of explanation and the like. And structure (anatomy) and function (physiology).

Study group? Can you arrange to study with a group of people? They can be hard to set up... But I used to study with a bunch of people and we would have a lot of fun with it and keep motivating each other by asking questions to try and catch each other out. That way you start to feel confident with how much you actually did manage to learn too :-)

Hang in there Jerry...

Has to get better.
And you are doing it...

Can you think your way into how the subject that you have to study is interesting? Start thinking about why you took the paper... Try and remember how interesting it all seemed before. Sometimes that helps me get in the spirit of it.

I'm not sure what I can say...

Except hang in there.

And on that note... I best do some writing

Jerry,

You can do this. It's just going to be harder for you because of depression. Not only do you have to fight the subject matter, but it feels like you have to fight yourself along the way. So it's not going to be a tiptoe through the tulips but a red knuckle struggle to the finish.

It's okay. You can do this. It's a fight you are up for.

Are you in pharmacy school or are you pre-pharm? Because that will make a big difference in the rest of the things I have to say.

Will you let me know?

I have fought depression all of my life and still managed to earn a Ph.D. in pharmacology. I do have some things to say about this.
