Sorry but This Thread isn't about Food

Posted by verne on September 3, 2006, at 6:46:37

I know food is the favorite topic around here, and I'm really swimming upstream introducing something else to talk, or "socialize" about, yet I'd like to discuss the impact you hippos have on the ecosystem. Simply, ease up, will ya?

Add to that, Deneb's constant "troll-like" expressions of love for Dr Bob and, then, Lou Pilder, troll incarnate, and his "who me? Alfred E Neuman" antics.

I hate this place and want to be blocked or banned forever. The social board is just a gaggle of women who basically hate men, and the administration board is where Lou Pilder perfects and defines the TROLL.

Finally, I find Dr Bob's hands-on need for involvement in the site management (punishment) and the constantly changing picture of himself at the top of the page, disturbing.

Hippos with your food. Go F*ck Yourself. Deneb with the boblove: the same. Pilder with the nazi under every rock: the same.

Verne, with the burr under every saddle: the same.

I'm outta here. I hate this site. I hate myself. And I hate everybody. Did I leave anything out?

love verne

awwwwwwwwwwwww verne
i don't think that was very nice.
<cross face>
howz the drinking going?

i don't hate men.
but you might have to wander over to relationships or writing for that.

do you think womens bodies or guys bodies are prettier?
(i've been wondering because in the rest of the animal kingdom males tend to be prettier)

will you hate me if i say my favourite nut is pistachio. i think there is something about their coming in shells so you kinda have to work to get the little buggers out and that makes them even more satisfying than other nuts which are fairly nice inthemselves like brazil nuts and cashews and almonds...

bob hasn't been around much lately.

> love verne

i'd give you a hug but you know.

ooh. i don't think i've tried spanish peanuts. are they roasted? i don't know why but i don't like raw peanuts.

> I don't like shells.

fair enough. i was wondering why pistachio nuts come in their shells. maybe because... they are kinda ugly looking (no offence to all those pistachio nuts out there 'cause they are yummy)

> Anyone like cold pasta salads?

no.
i like potato salad though

They are like roasted peanuts in the shell w/o the shell. They're cheap and better than your ordinary peanut.

I love potato salad. Righteous munchies.

I love macadamia nuts IN cold pasta salads. Spanish peanuts are good in brownies and the like.
Hazelnuts have a lot going for them too. I also enjoy a good walnut every now and then, and don't get me started on pecans.
Chestnuts are good around the holidays.
But my favorite is the cashew. I could eat a bushel.

My lunch yesterday was a handful of nuts.

and that is not supposed to sound as sexual as it looks on the screen. Oh well. I'm not going to edit it.

Apparently this thread was started by someone who hates me personally. Well, I guess I just don't give a crap who hates me.

But I *would* like to have a better lunch today. I'm thinking.... PB and Jelly?

On a related note, what nut is best in chocolate cookies? I think it's a toss up between pecans and macadamias. Testicles are ill-suited to most recipes.

Any more non-sequitors?

I don't think it was from someone who hates you personally. I think it was a post by someone who was trying (and succeeded) in posting a perfect example of irony.

I'd repost the parts that were the most ironic, but I don't think it's allowed.

Hey verne,
I've known you for a couple years and always found your posts interesting. I've seen your temper before having provoked you a time or two in the past. I, too, have been disappointed in myself for some of the time and energy I've wasted here, but that was my choice, no one forces me to visit PB. The hippo comment was really meanspirited. I'd like to think that that was just your temper getting the best of you again. People here can be forgiving. Toph

Spanish peanuts are a specific variety of peanuts, also called "redskins," some places. They're very good, little ground nuts. With a distinct sort of flavor -- I think you'd like them. In fact, I think EVERYONE would like them...

Maybe we should start stocking up for BabbleFest 2007?

Peanut butter goes with NUTELLA! That is the appropriate pairing.

And pecans in the cookies, please. There's really not much to discuss on that one.

(Although I suppose it's not civil to suggest that there's only one path to Nirvana...)

Please don't post anything that could lead others to feel accused or put down. You've been asked to be civil before, so I am blocking you from posting. No one is blocked forever, btw, but I've asked Dr. Bob to determine the length.

If you or others have questions about this or about posting policies in general, or are interested in alternative ways of expressing yourself, please see the FAQ:

Follow-ups regarding these issues should be directed to Admin and should of course be civil. Dr. Bob has oversight over deputy decisions. Thus, you can always appeal this decision to him, and he may choose a different action.

Hey Verne,

I don't hate you. I don't hate anyone here. You sound upset, I hope you are well. Your post didn't upset me one bit, surprisingly. I guess I'm just used to being called a troll now. I have enough self esteem now to know that I'm not a troll and that's all that matters.

If you don't like my posts, you can avoid reading them. I'll try to remember to warn people about my Bob posts in the subject line. I know some people don't like my posts. I can't please everyone.

previous block: 3 weeks
period of time since previous block: 13 weeks
uncivil toward a particular individual or group: yes
particularly uncivil: no
different type of incivility: no
clearly didn't understand PBC and made effort to reply: no
provoked: no
uncivil in multiple posts at same time: no
already archived: no

If we take 13 weeks, divide by 10, and round down, that's a reduction of 1 week. If we apply that to your previous block, that's 3 - 1 = 2 weeks. And if we triple that, that's 6 weeks.

Bob

PS: Thanks, everyone, for keeping this thread civil.
