My Granny was right, about alot of things BTW but... Goody's Headache Powders will knock the.... uh, stuffing outa ah headache. Yes, it is filled with ASA, Acetaminophen, and (gasp) Caffeine. Despite it's potential actions - good and bad - on most major body systems, my head is singing: "Oh Happy Day"...
Granny was right about Rosebud Salve too. I wish I had paid better attention to her.

When I lived in VA I learned about Goody's my boyfriend at the time said I was addicted to them. I loved them and h/a no more. Did not know it had caffeine in it at the time.

I have had a various level H/A for four days with it going anywhere from low grumble to splitting. I had tried various OTC, as Granny would put it: "High-minded" meds with some relief but disappointing as to really getting rid of it. Granny sworn by Goody's or BC powders and I was out and about today and thought, What the heck, it's cheap. I don't think I had ever used 'em before and was thrilled to find my response was amazing. I'm very pleased.
Pays to listen to the wisdom of older folks - of course, they didn't have many options but even after Gran did, she still stood by the old stuff that worked for her for longer than I've probably been alive.

Sounds like Excedrin, which is the only thing that seems to help my migraines. That and sleep, of course.

I've read that the reason caffeine helps a headache is that it reduces the swelling of blood vessels in your head. When you have a headache the blood vessels swell pressing on your head making it hurt, or something like that.
Excedrin has Acetaminophen, aspirin and caffeine. Works great for a headache, but for some reason makes me nauseous. I've discovered other pills with caffeine in them also make me sick. But I can drink a Mt. Dew or Coffee with no problem. Don't know why.
