I wish I could get a kitten,
but I can't because I go out of town at least a week or two, or three, every month. Are there any kitten-rental services?
I think the unconditional love and crazy playfulness and sharp little claws and throaty purrs of a little baby cat would make me feel happier.
Oh well.

Before I got my first hamster I had a pretend hamster. Maybe you can get a pretend kitty. They're always there when you need them.

Contact your local humane society and see if they do foster care. A friend of mine babysat kittens until they were old enough to be adopted. It was sooooooooooo cute.
Best,
