Do you know, you sound pragmatic, very sensible, no frills. Neat and tidy. Are you neat and tidy? Because if you are I totally totally admire that in people. I'm working on it all the time. Wait till I go through my drawer, the list will be long and disorganized! Reading this thread makes me wonder how I will find those people, do you think it bears relation to a personality, the stuff in our bedside drawers? Okay, and what about the reading material? What's in the bookstand? Do you read before you go to sleep? I used to, now I prefer to meditate or do self-hypnosis, but actually a combination is good. How about you, what do you do before sleep? Oh, oops, I guess some of that might be secret.

> Book, reading glasses, drops for my dry eyes, eye plugs. That's all. Love Phillipa

Hmm, I have lavender mist as well. I keep it in a large plant spray bottle, slightly diluted with distilled water, and I spray it all over my place several times a day. It's relaxing, refreshing, and heavenly. I like it on the pillow too, where do you spray it? I have relaxation cds too, I play them during the day as well. It really helps me calm down and be a bit more centered. Ew, I should focus more on business less on babble!

Ew, a candle up your nose, what a visual, no thanks. Candles, I LOVE candles and their little special holders, the things we do to make a flame brighter, or softer, or sparkle more or glow .. I have a ton of candles and holders. Yum. But the more kitsch there is, the more dusting to do, so I try to keep it down and I rotate stuff around too. Makes it more interesting. I guess you like a romantic atmosphere .. mm, are your candles scented?? I love scented candles.

Yeah, when I read nonfiction I often highlight and put flags on what I read, if it's important to me. And I adore bookmarks. I've got funny ones and pretty ones and meaningful ones from places I've visited. But somehow I end up with an envelope or something acting as bookmark.

The little darlings are too sneaky to evidence interest while I'm wearing the mask. But woe betide me if I leave it on the bed or with a string dangling. The bigger one manages to snitch it and the little ones join in. I usually find it, a lot wetter, but no worse for wear in a dog bed somewhere (we've got them scattered through the house so the dogs can be comfortably underfoot wherever we are.)

At least they've quit stealing my son's toys for the most part. But they get his socks whenever they possibly can. Again, no harm, just wet and well loved. And my bigger dog is attached to my slippers. I don't mind since slippers go on my feet as opposed to my face. But if I leave a slipper on the floor instead of on the little rolling thingy I keep them on I can usually find one slightly soggy slipper in her nighttime bed, as far underneath her as she can get it. Poor dear has to sleep in her own bed because she pushes us out of ours.

I gotta admit it's hard to get out of bed some mornings, in the middle of a maltese sandwich, snuggly and cozy.

I'm scared of fire. :(

But my husband got me a candle warmer so I can enjoy the frangrance without being scared by the flame.

Yeah, but just don't use that nose-blowing method when you're burning the candle from both ends......major pain...

Sooo......if I'm reading 'between the subject line' correctly, our Dinah apparently has contents that need to be moved elsewhere, that she won't tell about, but that are suited to being in the 'BIG' drawer!!!!

No, no. That I only used once and had my husband throw it out. Didn't like it AT ALL. :)

I got the recommend here, I think, and my therapist urged me to give it a shot as well. But no, that's not what's in the drawer. Ummm... Not anymore anyway.

Really! Just the once!

Hi Susan,

I'm far from romantic, but love scented candles. I just bought a pear scented one. Can't wait to burn it and see if I feel like I'm in a pear orchard.

Hi 10der,

Hey, there might be money in nose candles. Kind of like ear candles that remove wax buildup; nose candles could remove snot buildup? Or at least excess nose hairs.

But it's FIRE. Inside!!!

We were looking at homes with beautiful fireplaces, and all I could think was that I'd have to stick in an electric insert fireplace or a TV.

Because really, think of Bob Newhart trying to explain the concept of fireplaces (or candles) in one of his phone conversations.

"Well, you see. You build this hole in the ceiling. Uh huh. And then you, then you light a fire... Yes. Yes. The fire would be *inside* your house. Yes, your wood framed house..."

I have never owned a house that did not have at least one fireplace.

Firewood warms you many times.

Once when you fell it.
Once when you buck it.
Once when you split it.
Once when you stack it.
Once when you lug it inside.
Once when you load the fireplace.
Once when it burns (releasing all that stored sunlight.....yes, that is sunlight energy, stored in the carbon bonds).
And, finally, cleaning the dang thing, once in a while.

Not bad, IMHO.

Evrything we eat and drink would have stored sunlight in it then. How enlightening literally.

"How would you like your sunshine this morning, sir?"
