Invitation to Disneyworld

Posted by Squiggles on January 28, 2006, at 16:09:13

My ********* bought tickets to Disneyland
and are inviting us to go for a vacation.
We're really too old I think, but they think
that Disneyworld is good for alleviating
the doldrums and they think we really need
something of a lift. They even go so far
as to say it's a great antidepressant. I really have my doubts. Have any of you been there and back in a happier mood?

Disneyworld-the Happiest Place on Earth! :)

I love Disneyworld and I am in my late 30's. There is so many things to do for adults. What kind of fun do you like? I might be able to give you some suggestions. There are some great clubs, restarants, hotels, and so much to do.

Some of my favorite web sites that will tell you more than you ever wanted to know about Disney World is Disboards.com, and allearsnet.com. THere are pictures of everything including the food at the restaurants. I would love to come along! My family tries to go once a year. I am so jelous! :)

The things you do are fun. But do you like crowds, long lines? And it is very tiring. Something to think about. Fondly, Phillipa

Hello. That's the Orlando place, right?
I live quite close.
If you feel that you have been Disney'd to the end of your rope, I can offer a tour of the Outlet Malls to alleviate some of your anxieties. Leave the kids at the parks with the g-parents and I will take you on a shopping extravaganza.
Currently I am the reigning expert of Where To Buy Shoes for Special Occasions.

Phillipa, if we do decide to go, it will only
be not to reject and offend. Malls and
public cartoon exhibits are not really our
preference in entertainment. Take me to the
Oxford U. library instead or a good Chinese
restaurant :-)

I've been there, and had some good experiences and some bad. The lines are loooooong, the rides are short, the crowds are a hassle. Food is expensive. People shove you. Everything is extra $$$.

If you're OK with crowds, lines, hot sun, sunburnt necks, indigestion, sore feet, blisters, and rides that are not recommended for those who have heart conditions, then go for it! :)

On the other hand, the rides ARE fun. There are gentler rides, too. Some of the sights can be really cool. I know I sounded like I hated it, but it WAS a good time in its own way. I would not go again, unless I was taking a child. For myself, I'm past the stage where it would delight me; I would only take delight in giving the experience to someone who's "ready" for it.

Do you think you're too old physically, or too old "at heart"? They might just love it so much, they assume you will, too.

I think there are fancy hotel-resort things there?

Are you going for sure?
