What is going on

Posted by lynn971 on January 2, 2006, at 13:37:32

fires, floods, earthquakes in diverse places, hurricanes, psunamis, war. Oh my. Anyone dare to venture on this topic?

Not too mention an outbreak of a bad flu. Pestilance, famine, so many people with anxiety and depression.

I don't think we have any effect on earthquakes but I'm sure we have one on the weather, so the cataclysmic effect we think we're feeling nowadays is likely a real result of our blindness to what we've been doing. Every drive in the car, every plastic bag, every bit of electricity we consume, every piece of clothing we wear, every bit of beef we scarf, it all has an effect. But we can't give up any of it, because we now think we're all entitled.
So what's the surprise? Nothing is free.

"The Fourth Horseman" is a good starting place for reading, if you're wondering about disease.

Its always been there, earthquakes, plagues. its just that we have such wide srpead media coverage that we are now more aware of it. There has always been disasters and there have always been people who suffer, they were refered to as 'witches' or 'neurotic' whatever that time period chose. Also 'those' people were banished and not many new of them, now we understand the complexity of the human mind more, we understand how we function.
This is my take on the world anyway, or there is always the possibility that the earth is p*ssed off :)

I often think about what they would have done with me if I were born before antidepressants. I guess they would have locked me up in a psych ward. Or maybe becuase the people ate healthier back then, I would not have had a chemical imbalance. Just a thought!!

I have the coolest aunt. When I was in jr. high, she bought me this t-shirt that said, "Jesus is coming, and boy is he pissed!"

Needless to say, my mother was not amused...
