spill the beans- 7 things people don't know bout U

Posted by spriggy on December 18, 2005, at 13:56:46

I'm home from church- son is still sick. He's knocked out from the meds so I am bored.

Once again.. humor me.

You must tell us seven things about yourself (can be anything!) that most people don't know about you. If you can't come up with that many, give us as many as you can come up with..

*****************************************
1) My mom was 14 when she got pregnant with me; actually scheduled an appointment for an abortion. She changed her mind the night before because my dad proposed marriage. Likely why I'm such a big proponent of pro life.. :)

2) I found myself in nearly the same predicament at age 16 (only his father bailed)- I didn't consider abortion but I was just about to give him up for adoption and changed my mind before I told the couple desiring him.. "yes." Now, I can't even fathom my life without him. :)

Even when he has strep throat, is running 103 temp, and keeps me up all night long. :)

3) I bite my fingernails sometimes until they bleed.

4) I can't sit down and do anything (read, watch tv, etc..) unless my house is totally spotless. Isn't there medication for that?

5) I watch reality shows on MTV (Laguna Beach, Real world, etc.)- if you knew me, you would know how this is contrary to my personality in many ways and for various reasons. In fact, my husband always walks by while I am watching them, and just looks at me and shakes his head in disbelief. He has not come to grips with this side of me yet..

6) I twice entered the world of beauty pageants. Ick.

7) I met Barney Fife in real life - what is his real name? LOL

OK I'll play

1) I was delivered by emergency cesarean section because of placental abruption (a dangerous condition which can end in loss of the child)
Consequently, I had seizures as a newborn and took phenobarbital for the first 6 mos. I don't think my mother paid attention to the warning signs.

2) I can play classical guitar a bit

3) I sort of met Mike Tyson (smiling and waving as he passed by in his porsche) years ago

4) I love 'now and laters'

5) I still have nightmares that I'm still in high school

6) I can't leave my fingernails alone, I don't bite them, but I compulsively clip and file them

7) I'm amazed by the ease with which many other people seem to move through life

I can’t think there’s anything I haven’t mentioned here! It’s a struggle to think of seven things…

1. Everyone I know has a musical key associated with them. That includes people I know online. Spriggy is B major, for example. I think it’s a synaesthesia thing.

2. I love Buffy the Vampire Slayer and documentaries about plane crashes.

3. I see more green than other people (I think things are green when other people say they're gray or blue).

4. It takes me three times longer than anyone else to build stuff or make stuff (you know, like assembling bookshelves from Ikea) and yet I really enjoy doing it. But I usually have to do it alone because I’m so clumsy and slow that no one can bear to watch me.

5. I wasted much of my youth playing Strategic Conquest on my Mac instead of studying. When I realised that bombs became increasingly destructive the longer the game went on, I used to keep the game going for weeks, surrounding the enemy and building bigger and bigger bombs until I made a bomb so big the explosion covered the whole screen. I think I had some unresolved anger…

6. Some of my socks are 18 years old, and they have no holes yet.

7. I make terrible coffee. I’ve tried to learn many times but I just can’t seem to get it right; it’s usually too weak. Anyone for tea?

There, I managed to think of seven, but one was about my socks, and I really don’t know if that counts…

Hmmm... 7 things

1. It really upsets me every semester when some student complains about a grade, whether or not I think the complaint has merit. (Grading just sucks, and not just for students!)

2. I still feel guilty about the time in 1st grade when we were singing and the guy next to me was so off-key that I told him to shut up.

3. In later grades I absolutely could not sing (as part of a group of classmates) in school performances. I'd try to get out of it any way I could, actually threw up once and, if prodded on stage, would at most silently move my lips.

4. I married my only girlfriend.

5. I hate my voice, especially when I think it sounds like my father's.

6. I have very loose joints. The one time I fractured a major bone it was because my knee popped out of joint as a threw a ball and my arm slammed into the ground. My ankles often give way for no good reason and I once had a shoulder separation from quickly lifting my elbow.

7. I hate speaking foreign languages, partly for fear of saying the wrong thing but often because I'd rather not say anything at all rather than leave out some nuance I can only express in English.

Okay, this one is too good to pass up. I really hope that people join in! I don't have anything too interesting to say, but I'll go for it anyway. :)

1. Fun panties are very important. I especially love leopard print ones. This probably came out the wrong way--it really isn't a sexual thing, just a fashion thing. Also, you can never have too many pairs b/c it really helps you put off doing the laundry!

2. I still sleep with my childhood blanket.

3. I would love to have my own kids or some nieces or nephews to buy x-mas gifts for. I don't (yet) so I bought lots of gifts for people's pets.

4. I love to scrapbook, but I am bad at taking pictures.

5. I like Martha Stewart, especially her Apprentice show (although I heard it was cancelled)

6. When in doubt, wear black.

7. I love the light-hearted characters of my childhood that are making a come back: Strawberry Shortcake, the Carebears, My Little Pony. They just make me smile (Arrgh! I need some kids to spoil!)

Best,
EE

Let's see...

1. My high school student ID number was 666 for all four years. I used to tease people that I was the spawn of Satan (even though I was a charasmatic christian). hahaha! I have this thing with shocking people. ;-)

2. I was born with the embilical cord wrapped around my neck 5 times. I was extremely active in the womb! They said it looked like I was born with a big turtle neck on.

3. In high school, I once decided to see how long I could stay awake. I made it 3 days before passing out from exhaustion. I then slept for the next 36 hours straight! My mom decided not to wake me up, but to let me sleep as long as I needed. :-/ I still don't understand that logic!

4. I'm related to Edgar Allan Poe. Might this explain why I am on a site like this???? hahaha!

5. My birthday is in less than 3 hours! Ugh! Being a Christmas baby sucks!

6. I love when it is 110 degrees outside as long as there is only 10-15% humidity. I hate when it gets below 70 degrees.

7. Two years ago my parents kicked me out of the house and I lived in my truck for 8 months. I made the truck bed (with a shell) into a bedroom including a bed. I actually began to love sleeping there until the temperature got into the teens.

I'll have to think a while for 5 more.

I was fanatical about Buffy. I would tape the episodes while I watched them, just incase I missed something. There's been a hole in my life since it went off the air. Even Lost doesn't quite fill it.

My high school nightmares always include my parents making me go back to school because I didn't graduate. But I'm always the age I am now and I keep telling them I'm too old (35)! I always get lost, can't find my books, and am late to class. My T said its an anxiety dream.

My parents really did force me to go back after I didn't have enough credits to graduate. We had moved too so I didn't know anyone. It was awful. I ended up talking them into letting me get my GED after 3 horrible months.

The reason I didn't graduate was because of the debilitating depression I suffered from. They didn't have Prozac back then. I sometimes wonder what my life would have been like if it had. But then, maybe if I didn't suffer the things I have, I wouldn't be the same person with the same insights and empathy.

I'm babbling for some reason (no pun intended). Sorry.

I can't find "Buffy" anywhere on TV now because I don't have cable for the repeats. :-(

Geez, just a little pressure there eh?
What a horrible dream. In mine I'm 31 (the age I am now) and I have to finish high school and go to class, and I keep missing certain classes, I don't even know where they are, I get stuck on the bus, and I absolutely have to finish high school even though it feels impossible (especially the math). I try to tell them I have a grad degree, why do I have to do this? but it doesn't matter, it's not good enough. I'm stuck there, trapped and clueless, and terribly inadequate. I can't answer questions on the test...it is truly awful.

> My parents really did force me to go back after I didn't have enough credits to graduate. We had moved too so I didn't know anyone. It was awful. I ended up talking them into letting me get my GED after 3 horrible months.

thank goodness...high school can be a horrible place to be, especially depressed

'tis true my dear, of that I am certain. I've got to believe that's true.

> I'm babbling for some reason (no pun intended). Sorry.

no apology necessary, I'm just sorry you have to suffer with that awful dream. I know mine might seem silly, but it comes with the most awful feelings. I always wake up so uncomfortable.

Hmmm... Some of these things may have already been told. Hard to keep track of so many posts over so long.

I had a real lifesize playhouse, full of fun furniture and dolls, and a room unit air conditioner.

I was a real Monkees fan, both at the beginning and during their twentieth year reunion tour, when I attended as many concerts as I could.

I used to read Regency romance novels, averaging more than one a day.

Daddy used to bring me to the racetrack, and I got pretty good at reading the racing form.

My husband hates unloading the dishwasher and I hate loading it, so it works out nicely.

I had a father fantasy about Dr. McCoy.

My favorite poet is Sir John Suckling. But my favorite poem is "A Nymph's Reply to a Shepherd" by Sir Walter Raleigh. Unless you count Dr. Seuss.

1. I got married at 17. I did not get married because I was pregnant.

2. I love classic rock. Led Zeplin, Lynnard Skninard, Janis Joplin, Jimmy Hendrix, Ozzy Osborne. I do like Eminem. My 13 year doesn't know that. I dont want her listening to him.

3. I teach at I school that is made up of predominately black students. I love! love! love! my students. I am white. I have a special love for black (colored, African American) people. Not sure the politicaly correct term.

4. Unlike Spriggy, I can definately rest even if my house is not spotless. I need to go clean right now.

5. I love to laugh. My best friend and I are always acting silly. We laugh everywhere we go. People often think that we are drunk and we are not.

6. My friends and co-workers think that I am dingy.

7. I have only had sex with one man!!!! My husband!!!!!!! Probably because I got married at 17. lol

I don't have cable either, but it comes on a local channel here on Saturdays. I guess I'm lucky. I only have the first season on DVD. I'd love to have the one with vampire Willow and Xander - it was either 3rd or 4th season. Also the 6th season (I think) which has Hush, The Body, and Once More with Feeling. Oh, and the one's with Faith. And Tara! I guess I just want them all. Except for the initiative stuff.

That actually sounds remarkably like my dream! I haven't had it in a while. Lately I have one where my Mom comes over and cleans my apartment (against my wishes). Its basically the same thing, just different details.

Hmmm, this is not easy.

1) I saw a giant stuffed giraffe in the store yesterday, and I really really really wanted to hug it and bring it home with me (paid for, of course).

2) I absolutely love watching all the old Christmas specials on TV each year. I just giggle and giggle.

3) I snort when I laugh. (Oh wait, y'all already know that!)

3b) I cry when I laugh.

4) I was born 2 days late, and I've been late ever since.

5) I'm a slob, a serious piler of things. I hate putting things away, although I also don't function well in clutter.

6) I love Shakespeare.

7) I have an evil habit of passing earworms to my best girlfriend. "Billy, don't be a hero..."

tee hee hee hee hee
