Anyone from Oz want to help me out?

Posted by Racer on December 12, 2005, at 20:44:14

OK, I know that this is going to sound really weird -- and it probably is really weird -- but I'm trying to find out if a TV show is available on DVD. If you're in Oz, and good at this sort of thing, can you help?

Either maybe we can arrange some sort of shipping, or maybe you can direct me to an online resource for episodes of "Skippy" either on DVD or US style VHS?

If you think you can help, either babblemail me, or just post something here. And thank you!

I'm not from Oz....but many volumes (all?) seem to be available here at VidzofOz:

But...is PAL DVD compatible with US TV? I used to know this stuff when I lived in Europe, but I've forgotten...I'm sure Damos or someone will come to your rescue. (looks like a lovely, fun show....even for this 40-something kid!) good luck.

This is the Skippy the Kangaroo, Lassie-style show?
I watched it as a kid in Canada, maybe try chapters.com (the Cdn equivalent of Amazon)?

Gahhhh, now I've got the darn theme song playing in my head!

I'm pretty sure you need a DVD that's NTSC unless you have a TV that understands PAL.

But I don't know much about this stuff...

Hi Racer,

Sorry not around much these days (sigh) and just saw your post. Had a quick look and can't find any Skippy that isn't only formatted for Region 4 (Aust) and PAL. Couldn't find any NTSC or multi region. Sorry. It's stupid cause Ken Done for example asks you what country you're planning to send stuff to and they ensure it's the right format. I'll keep looking and drop you a line if I find anything.

Hi Racer,

Skippy. Skippy. Skippy the buuuuuush kangaroo...

I had a friend who was in the military in the UK and she had a VCR that played and recorded both PAL and what I'll call USA format. There has to be some kind of DVD that will do the same, but it's probably pricey.

I hope you find Skippy.
