Please tell me what is with my mom?

Posted by rjlockhart98 on October 14, 2005, at 22:53:19

She just told this rude nurse that said a saracastic comment to her, "lady go away and let me do my work, you are in the way" and ignored her, ..."you messed with the wrong wasp bitch, i will have your unethical *ss put to the floor". Now if you continue your little "jokes" you are going to pay, directly looked her in the eye. The nurse rolled her eyes, and said whatever lady. My mom picked up some medical papers about my grandmother, Oh thats it? threw them in her face, you lazy unethical animal, you have not given my mother attention, medicine is off time, i have call in about her. she has fell twice after she broke her leg, and now i know your lying to me becuse you said you didnt know where the HELL the brace was, then you found it so quickly. again and you DID NOTHING? Thats it. I am directly making a report against you, how you treat, you smerk, and additude. Thank you and you have a wonderful day.

She goes into rages, gets delusional that god has given her signs on what to do to. She will demand things her way.

Makes fun and belittes my disorder and my medications, and says that i need natural remidies.

Will scream, break mirrors, and walk in paces saying "no no no". My stepdad is a nut, and attacks her, she says listen you f*cker, i will divorce your dumbass, you dont KNOW ANYTHING i go through. He doesnt and is cold.

She has EXTREME anger from the past, and takes it out.

PLEASE TELL me what sort of disorder does this sound to you. Personality disorder, i belive from the past happened.

Please post

Matt

Perhaps bipolar or BPD. Does this happen all the time or just some of the time?

Here's some info I found

The link is http://www.focusas.com/PersonalityDisorders.html

"A personality disorder is identified by a pervasive pattern of experience and behavior that is abnormal with respect to any two of the following: thinking, mood, personal relations, and the control of impulses." That sounds like how you described your mom.

"Most personality disorders begin as problems in personal development and character which peak during adolescence and then are defined as personality disorders." That ties in with the problems she's had in the past.

"Personality disorders are not illnesses in a strict sense as they do not disrupt emotional, intellectual, or perceptual functioning.  However, those with personality disorders suffer a life that is not positive, proactive, or fulfilling."

Here's the ones they list that I think could apply to your mom:

Antisocial Personality Disorder:
Lack of regard for the moral or legal standards in the local culture, marked inability to get along with others or abide by societal rules.  Sometimes called psychopaths or sociopaths.

Borderline Personality Disorder:
Lack of one's own identity, with rapid changes in mood, intense unstable interpersonal relationships, marked impulsively, instability in affect and in self image.

Histrionic PersonalityDisorder:
Exaggerated and often inappropriate displays of emotional reactions, approaching theatricality, in everyday behavior. Sudden and rapidly shifting emotion expressions.

Narcissistic PersonalityDisorder:
Behavior or a fantasy of grandiosity, a lack of empathy, a need to be admired by others, an inability to see the viewpoints of others, and hypersensitive to the opinions of others.

Paranoid PersonalityDisorder:
Marked distrust of others, including the belief, without reason, that others are exploiting, harming, or trying to deceive him or her; lack of trust; belief of others' betrayal; belief in hidden meanings; unforgiving and grudge holding.

That's just a quick overview. Go to the link for more info. Or just type 'personality disorders' in your search engine. There's lots of info out there which may help you better understand why your mom is behaving this way. That helps in not blaming yourself or anything.

This is helpful too, from the same site as above

Individuals with personality disorders have many things in common:

'Self-centeredness'
that manifests itself through a me-first, self-preoccupied attitude

'Lack of individual accountability'
that results in a victim mentality and blaming others, society and the universe for their problems

'Lack of perspective-taking and empathy'

'Manipulative and exploitative behavior'

'Unhappiness'
suffering from depression and other mood and anxiety disorders

'Vulnerability to other mental disorders'
such as obsessive-compulsive tendencies and panic attacks

'Distorted or superficial understanding of self and others' perceptions',
being unable to see his or her objectionable, unacceptable, disagreeable, or self-destructive behaviors or the issues that may have contributed to the personality disorder

'Socially maladaptive'
changing the rules of the game, introducing new variables, or otherwise influencing the external world to conform to their own needs

'No hallucinations, delusions or thought disorders' (except for the brief psychotic episodes of Borderline Personality Disorder)

I hope that helps. I found research to be very helpful in dealing with certain people in my life.

Matt, If a nurse was not taking care of my mom and was lazy, I prb. would see to it that she get fired. Hopefuly I would not say ugly things are scream at her. I have to say though, as I was reading what she told the nurse, my insides were saying "You go girl."

I dont like the way she treats you, though. YOu dont have to be subjected to that.

I told my mom, "I love you, but if you do not take your meds, you will not see my children, because you will not do to them what you did to me."

It sounds like we have the same mom. My mom is on prozac and it works great for her, so she has not had any episodes lately.

I does sound like your mom needs lithium. The whole God thing sounds like she is manic. When she says God has given her a sign, does it make sense, or is it completely off the wall? I do believe that people can be led by the Holy Spirit, but I also believe that some people think they are and are not, and do crazy things in the name of God.

I hope everything works out for you.

You're in a hard situation Matt and there's not much you can do but let go. My mother has a personality d/o and I had to completely let go. Personality d/o's are often hard to treat b/c it's more therapeutic treatment than medications (from the little I know)and the person has to accept that they need the help. I know it s*cks.
