Are blocked people allowed to...

Posted by Deneb on September 16, 2005, at 20:06:28

Are blocked people allowed to go to the Babble Party next year?

I wouldn't mind blocked people coming, would others? Also, would the normal rules apply in person? Does "please don't post to me" transform into "please don't speak to me"? Do we have to say "Trigger"?

Does anyone who want to come have any physical disabilities? We should plan things so that everyone can enjoy themselves.

The average age here is mid thirties, will there be anyone my age going? Or will I be really really out of place?

I keep thinking that I will go, but I'm not sure if I actually have the guts to go. Real life is very different. I'm much less crazy in real life and very boring.

Does anyone have any allergies? We should try to accommodate everyone. IE. not wear excessive perfume, etc.

Am I treating you guys like a bunch of kindergartners? LOL

Is "!!" a positive or negative thing?

I hope I didn't post anything inappropriate.

I'm sorry. :-(

Did I do something wrong?
Are you afraid to talk to me now? :-(

It's ok. I just want you to be ok.

I'm sorry ClearSkies, I really don't know what you meant by your posts.

Can you explain it to me?

Is there something I'm missing? I mean that.
When I saw Deneb's post I thought she was in effect saying (by the kindergartener comment

"Oh I guess you guys already know that stuff.. sorry" in a self deprecating way.
I didn't think twice about it.

But if maybe more to that than I know about I apologize for butting in.

I'm sorry, Deneb. I should not have replied so enigmatically to your posts.

Have you read over the Admin thread regarding this past June's babble meeting? We discussed some of the points that you bring up in your post.

I know that personally, I value my anonymity and security here at babble - some of that security is knowing that posters can be blocked when they make inappropriate, uncivil or disruptive comments. I also admit to becoming upset when threads go awry with posts like that. I'm usually in agreement with Dr Bob and/or the deputies when blocks are issued. I think I'm uncomfortable with the idea of meeting posters face to face about whom I feel so conflicted. In other words, this is a problem of mine where I anticipate potential confrontation and will run for the hills at the very idea. The :-( is really for me.

Not really, I will do that. :-)

Oh, I see now. Thanks for explaining it to me! I guess I'm just not as cautious about my own anonymity. I guess the group or Dr. Bob will decide who can come or who cannot come.

I would be willing to meet all Babblers, blocked or not, at a different location if it is a problem for some people. I don't usually cause any conflict...I'm just a really quiet person IRL.

If it would make you feel more comfortable, I can become mute like Dr. Bob...or I can just observe from a distance or have my own little meeting of Babblers.

No, there's need for you to make any special arrangements for the babble meeting, Deneb. I'm OK.
Thanks, though, for the consideration.
