Do you have the Beach Boys CD that is ONLY voice, and no instruments at all ( they don't need'em sometimes their voices are that good. ) I can't listen to it without getting goosebumps!!!

>> The thing is that I'm 23. No one in my age group really gets down to what I'm into. It hurts sometimes that no one is as passionate as I am when everyones hanging out and listening to music...

I have felt the same way all my life. I am only 36 and it was uncool to listen to Chicago even for me growing up! I say I you love it, listen to it, just don't listen to the jerks that think you are a little off! lol And yes Earth Wind and FIre are really cool! This weekend I am going to see a local band that plays a lot of 60's hits, I love it! Now keep in mind I was only born in 1969! :) Have fun!

Totally like Garden State! Saw that recently in one of my not so great emotional places and pretty much sobbed from the part where they yell into the quarry on. I mean SOBBED and I saw it in a theatre w/ my mother and step-father. Another classic crazy moment. Very cathartic though and it was that bitter-sweet kinda crying, y'know?

No, I don't but I will soon. Sounds awesome..And my God, Earth Wind and Fire, how could I forget? Prince? Another genius....But, he's solo. I was thinking groups. Solo for sure Marvin Gaye but he's hard for me,like John Lennon(and they were both geniuses and I'm not using that in any casual way, the people I'm describing as such, were/are)cuz their art is kinda tied w/ their senseless, violent, early deaths.

Really, don't worry..How about the Carpenters. I happen to thinking Karen Carpenter had one of the most beautiful, haunting, original voices ever and I will never be ashamed of loving them.

Hi Alex,
You should really give Green Day's latest album, "American Idiot", a listen. I think it's the best thing they've ever done. The judges at the Grammys agreed -- it won Record of the Year. It's essentially a cycle of songs that traces the development of someone from early adolescence, when he asserts his desire to never become a jingoistic, Ritalin-tranked American idiot, to his middle age, when he's finally shrugged his shoulders in defeat and succumbed to the dominant popular culture. World-weary and worn down, the rebellious romanticism of his youth is replaced by a blase attitude about notions such as love. And the songs, especially "Holiday," my favorite, are really brilliant. The societal and governmental criticism are really Old Skool, angry punk. Ta. Atticus

Hi-

Love green day, however, haven't gotten american idiot. Having grown up in berkley, i have the distintion of being occasionally on the outskirts of their social/gig scene( as w/ Red Hot Chili Peppers and Counting Crows- Adam Duritz is certainly one of us but in a most unfortunate and insufferably, publicly tortured way)so I'm loyal to all. But, my true absolute complete favorite rock performer and recording artist is Bowie. Been loyal to him for almost 30 years even though he lost it after scary monsters...

Strewth! I haven't seen Bowie perform live in 15 years -- that was during his "Sound + Vision" greatest hits tour. I remember being amazed at how much Adrian Belew was a vocal doppelganger for him -- their vocals intertwined in amazing ways. Belew also did a few solo numbers. Definitely one of the better concerts I've attended. Atticus

The last time I saw him live was probably the same tour. I was drinking alot and doing various other forms of self medication so, I kinda don't remember as well as I ought to. No, no, it was the glass spider tour!I never got to see the greatest hits tour but woulda loved it I'm sure. However, the Modern Love tour oh, bliss, a friend and I were right at center stage in the pit. Not great for the over all veiw but, when him was center stage we were close enough to see him spit(y'know, at certain words). That I will never forget. I went through about a 6 month obsession w/ the idea of getting the inner-sleave drawing from Diamond Dogs tattooed on my back(in the early 90's)but thankfully, ultimately decided against it.(I really have quite enough tattoos)But, yeah, I ADORE Bowie. These days he looks so regular and happy and youthful(I'm sure he's had a little work done...)

I haven't heard it. But, I really dig alot of country. Willie, Waylon, Dolly, Emmylou, of course, Johnny, Hank-both Sr and Jr, etc...Even The Dixie Chicks , Allison Krause are totally cool. I'm not genre limited at all.

I've only heard the title song for that album. It's great - very funny. I'm curious as to what country they are from. Do you know? (btw, your link to the album at Amazon.com doesn't show the Green Day album. It shows an unrelated book).
