well i'm back...

Posted by alexandra_k on August 12, 2005, at 3:22:05

... and the new indicators are rather overwhelming.

It was a pleasant holiday but I think I had had enough really and wanted to come home after a couple days. Still, a week probably did me good and now I'm actually looking foward to doing some work.

I haven't really travelled around NZ all that much. Interesting to drive through all the farms (waikato) to all the pine plantations (bit lower down the island) to all the orchards / vineyards (napier / hawkes bay). There was an earthquake and fire around the 30's in Napier so they pretty much rebuilt the whole town in art deco which was in favour at the time.

And now... I have to try and find Damos. Dunno if he said anything but he decided to jump the ditch for a little visit and he is over here... somewhere... as I write... So if you are reading... give me a call :-)

Welcome back alexandra!

I bet New Zealand is excellent for travelling around and seeing all the different scenery....It sure does look pretty impressive from all the t.v programmes i've seen from this side of the globe :-)

Kind regards

Nick

Hiya Nick. Unbelievably... I haven't really travelled around very much. Went on a 17 day tour of the south island when I was round about... 4. I remember quite a bit of that, but apart from that haven't really been anywhere further south than the king country (just below waikato).

Should really have a look around before I go. Trouble is that it is cheaper to go to Australia than it is to go to the south island much of the time...

Hey. I managed to find Damos. He IS rather crazy... First he did a hydro-zorb:

http://www.tourism.net.nz/new-zealand/attractions/adventure/zorbing/rotorua/

and then a bungy:

http://www.rotoruabungy.co.nz/bungy-html.htm

while I looked on in disbelief, rather relieved to find that his retinas remained connected ;-)

so we could have a go at:

Which is the limit of my adventurousness really.

:-)

Well, I had a most amazing day with Alex yesterday. My entire body was screaming "what the hell were you thinking" about 6pm last night as I collapsed in a heap in my room. But I appear to be okay today. Gonna be sorry to leave in the morning.

I'm fairly shattered too. Probably in sympathy :-) Then my flatmate decided to have a party last night starting round 3am (when the bars close) and some guy found his way into my room 'George? Is this George's room? Is that you George?' and I was rudely awakened round 4.30. Grr. Must lock that... And they are still going (at 10am). Pros and cons of living on campus... Pros and cons...

Well made it back to auckland, after getting a smashed windscreen on the motorway. I'm okay it was really hard to leave this morning. Thank you so very, very much for making me so welcome and taking such good care of me.

You're something special Alex hope we have the chance to catch up again someday.

Lots of love
((((((((((Alex)))))))))

Bugger about the windscreen :-( still... glad you are okay. We did have a good time, didn't we :-) Amazing how it is just like meeting an old friend but you also get additional stuff like mannerisms etc. It was really nice to meet and we will have to catch up again, hopefully in Sydney next time.

Oh, I just found out there was Rugby on Saturday night (shows how much we follow that...) we won :-) It was a really good game apparantly.

Hope you have a nice flight and the train train bus thing goes okay.

Yeah it was a bugger and gave me one hell of a fright too. Sure did have a good time. Honestly, I didn't know a day like Sunday was even possible. What a precious, precious gift. O-oh, mannerisms (face goes into hands, peers through fingers, thinking, thinking).

It was really nice to meet you too. Yeah I hope we can meet again (no bungying though - a nice sedate harbour cruise maybe). Heard about the rugby when I got back home (see I told the bungy guy knew we'd loose).

You're an amazing young woman Alex. A truly, deeply beautiful person in just so many ways. I'm so very lucky to be your friend.

Just wait till I find out who started that scurrilous and unsubstantiated rumour, boy will they be in trouble ;-)
