yes, i am having my hemorrhoids removed via scapel next week. I can think of little else lately as i understand it is not the stuff of beautiful dreams.
i'm planning ahead for a fortress of pain pills, mounds of donut shaped pillows and a random jump towards eating earlier at Lubys so i will fit in better with others who have this problem...but are generally older than i.
if anyone has had this surgery done, i would appreciate any info that might make this next week prior to going in, tolerable.
i know this forum probably isn't the right one, but still, one wonders where hemorrhoids fit in ever?

My husband had the surgery and he said it was the best decision he ever made. He suffered for years before. Admittedly, it wasn't a walk in the park after the surgery but he improved quickly. He said if he had to, he'd make the decision to do it again in a minute.

My husband's mom had it done years ago and has not had any problems since. Good luck!

anastasia - I'm sorry. Hemorrhoids suck :(. My cousin had hers taken care of a while ago and I haven't heard anything about them since. Seems to have been a success. Good luck.

My mother had the operation and as far as I know hasn't had any problems since. I think it gave her a new lease of life.

Sorry but hemmorroids or however you spell them are exactly that. Unspellable. Preparation * is funny too. So is fudge. so is diarhea-also unspellable but always the perfect excuse for avoid ing anything. I meant funny funny funny as are any references to passing g*s. Cutting the cheese, whatever. We are imperfect creatures altho I must say we are a h*ll of a lot better than chimpanzees. Alas, *arting is such sweet sorrow, cockeyed.

I know nothing about the operation, but can empathize with your pain. Best luck with the surgery, and I wish you years of more comfortable bottom once it's done.

Me, I'm kinda all over the place. Probably part of the reason I haven't been posting much. Feeling a little disengaged and unable to contribute to anything much. Kinda why I took advantage of the roomy being away to have a week a home and not really have to deal with anyone much. It's funny though, all I can think about is how much I wish my babblefriends were here so I could give each and everyone of them the huge hug they deserve for being so special and precious to me. And of course puppy magee loves to meet new people too.

ana - seriously....sorry you have to go through this. But I'm assuming it's the best option. Things will be better once all healed up? Well, duh, of course they'll be better! (I'm such a dork sometimes) I just meant, sorry other treatments obviously haven't helped enough. No one generally wants *any* kind of surgery :-(
Are you getting lame "pain in the ____" remarks from people? Endless possibilities for juvenile humor, I suppose. Uhhh, from people who can't control their tendency to BE juvenile - like moi! (hangs head)
Maybe humor is the best way to cope...? It wouldbe for me, I think. Let us know how you are doing.....

thanks 10der! yeah lots of lines using 'pain in the xxx'' floating around. I totally agree, humor is a must to get thru life (or a hemorrhoidectomy).
