Hey JenStar,

You'd be surprised how well hair conditioner works.

Citric Acid.. it's cheap and it's good for everything, you can even give yourself a facial with it!

You can buy it in bulk at the grocery store, or in little packets where the spices are usually for a couple of dollars.
Mix it at a 20% solution with water and it disinfects too. Spray it on, leave it for a few minutes, and it should work, it does for me, it's the main ingredient in many cleaners. Non-toxic too.

I"m lazy, if it's REALLY bad, I'd buy a new door!
Otherwise I usually use scrubbing bubbles, spray, let it sit, spray again, then wipe. Seems to work well.

I use that Clean Shower stuff that you spray on the tiles, glass, etc. when you're done showering. You spray it on and gradually it removes any buildup without you doing anything manually - I really like it. I moved into a place with lots of mineral content in the water - everything was caked up with calcium deposits and soap scum - yuck. Within 2 weeks it had all resolved itself. Even my chrome is shiny.

That made me laugh! It sounds like something I would do. I've often wished disposable dishes weren't so bad for the environment.

I get this stuff at Target, it's their Method brand. You just spray it on the shower walls after you've showered, and after a few days, you should start to see an improvement. I like it cause you can get it in three different (but not overwhelming, IMO) scents. I get the lavender.

thanks, everyone! I will probably try ALL of those products. I'm a bit of a neat freak and this might sound weird, but I actually *like* cleaning up. Maybe because things get all orderly and nice and pretty, and then life seems simpler and easier to manage. Maybe it's a psychological thing! :) Odder yet, I like to let the house get kind of really dirty first and THEN clean up. Somehow the satisfaction seems greater. Or maybe I'm just lazy and that's my very creative way of justifying it!

Anyway, thanks again for the ideas. Hopefully soon my hard water stains & calcium deposits will be a thing of the past. And if I keep a few spare doors in storage (LOVE that idea!) I can always impess a guest. :)

this was a great thread! i've been obsessing about my shower doors too and was actually contemplating that stuff you see on the infomercials on tv...it's purple...maybe called Kaboom or something like that. But now, i'm going to try these suggestions first. My Dollar Store purchase ain't cutting it.

Glad it made you laugh because I was really just kidding. I was just in one of those silly moods. ; )

I just got this Mr Clean magic reach thing, special pads on a stick with soap in them, and you don't have to get quite so down and dirty. I was quite taken with it yesterday (what a pity). Clean shower/tub enclosure makes me happy. Scrubbing bubbles is good to use with it once the soapy stuff runs out of the pads.

Oh gosh, who could?! But you're right, if I could do everything she recommends my house would be in great condition!

Not flirting, just batting. I have good lashes, but they're SO light. What kind of mascara do you use Gabbi? I've got a bunch, but my standby is Covergirl Professional Lash. Have used it since high school, but the formula is a lot thicker than it used to be. I love Hypnose, or whatever it's called, I think it's Lancome, and pricy at $21 insane dollars a tube! Then I also have Rimmel in the black tube, which is good if you don't need to thicken or lengthen too much, but I really like it, and it's not at all expensive. I've also got one of those ones that has the white stuff then the mascara, don't use that too often cause I don't want to look like Tammy Faye Baker, and if ya don't know who she is you're way younger than I am! LOL

I'll have to try it again, I haven't used it since high school either, it reminds me of orangey foundation and blue eyeshadow. :i

I love Hypnose, or whatever it's called, I think it's Lancome, and pricy at $21 insane dollars a tube!

I love hypnose too, that's what I usually use, but I like Prescriptives False eyelashes mascara even more, it makes your lashes so thick but they stay really soft. It's a criminal price as well, and I could never ever afford it right now, but sometimes I can get it on e-bay really inexpensively.

I've also got one of those ones that has the white stuff then the mascara,

I have that too! I don't like the mascara that came with it though, so I use it with Hypnose at night, only at night though, way tooo much for daytime.

Nuh uh! I suspect from the cover girl high school reference and Tammy Faye, we're probably about the same age.

oh I guess I should go do my dishes, I already have used the excuse "I'll let them soak" once too often *sigh*
