alex, a Shar-Pei? Let's see, according to the American Kennel Club, a Shar-Pei's temperment is:
Regal, alert, intelligent, dignified, lordly, scowling, sober and snobbish essentially independent and somewhat standoffish with strangers, but extreme in his devotion to his family. The Shar-Pei stands firmly on the ground with a calm, confident stature.

Well, they got the snobbish part right! lol ; ) Toph

are waiting with bated breath. I have already asked a question, so, since you had said sharpei before you knew the rules of one answer per person, I thought you could ask the next question, if you don't mind.

Larry, Sunny would probably have received notification of a new post to the thread, so she would have seen the post that said she was up. Perhaps she is thinking of a real mind-bender to stump us all. Oh no, better get my brain out of the pickle jar.

True or false, there is a bird that feeds on blood? If true, what is this bird's common and species name and where does it live?

It's called the vampire finch, and I don't know all (if any) other the places it lives, but I think it can be found in the Galapagos islands.

The Vampire finch is one of four species of ground finches on the Galapagos Islands. This particular finch is called the sharp- beaked finch ( Geospiza nebulosa). The vampire finches reside specifically on Wolf Island of the Galapagos. The vampire finch feeds on the blood of other birds, mostly the Masked Boobies and Red Footed Boobies. It is believed that this behaviour evolved from peaking for parasites on other birds.

Hehe...I recently saw this on National Geographic.

I wonder if being called Red Footed Boobies makes them a bit sad sometimes.

Have you ever read about Bower bird? If you haven't you should, they are so cool!
They build houses with little lawns and everything! Some of them even make duplexes, and they paint them and decorate the outsides with
things they find. One even used a glass eye.

I have a resident bowerbird at my place. I think he's a batchelor though. They make all sorts of really bizarre noises and he growls at me if I get too close to his bower.

Doesn't have a duplex though ;)

Hey Larry! I was very pleased to read that you have some sort of musical goal on the horizon. You've got to keep that part alive and well-great resource of endorphins!

SOOOOOOO, I've been singing jazz standards as well as some comtemporary stuff-the bass player loves to play Weather Report stuff! I'm very happy that they can see that I have talent and are allowing me the space to learn. For ONCE I feel TOTALLY out-classed by these guys-they are THAT good! I'm taking the proactive steps I feel are necessary to make sure that my time up at the mike is up to my standards-meaning I'm going to consult with the 2 guitarists and get a working list of songs they remember. No one in the group really reads music, they pretty much go from memory. That could initially sound LAME, but when you consider that the old school jazz masters rarely read music this is not as flaky as it could sound. The bass player is going on tour somewhere for 2 weeks so we'll have a sub-dude step in for the interim. It's so nice to feel a sense of comraderie with these people. I've isolated myself so much for the last 2 years just trying to deal with all of the toxic mold issues and this is so refreshing I just might have to wear a dress for the next Monday's performance!

I want to hear ALL about the coffee house "thang". I'm aware that you probably won't get to play with your arm out of commision. I would suggest that you at least try. You never know what your body can overcome when you plug into your power source!
