Food.....sigh

Posted by Larry Hoover on May 24, 2005, at 14:35:17

Some days, I just get into <cooking mode>.

Today, it is <mode on>.

I just made a lovely meal. So simple.

Braised lamb short ribs and new potatoes, with caremelized onions and garlic.

So simple. Four ingredients. But lovely. Just lovely.

Oh, that's sounds absolutely delicious. My mouth is watering just reading about it. Hope you enjoy the meal. Too bad you don't have any of those yummy butter tarts left over for dessert. Man, I so wish I wasn't so incredibly inept at cooking < sigh >

Sometimes food is such a lift to the spirit and soul.

I know where to find more, next Saturday morning. I don't know if that's a good thing, or not. They come in three varieties. Traditional (with raisins). Plain. Or pecan.

My only issue with pecans is that this isn't pecan country. I'm very sensitive to nuts that are off their prime.

That still leaves the traditional or plain ones, though.

Now *my* mouth is watering. And I just discovered that my son discovered my emergency stash of chocolate covered almonds. Not a one left, and there was over a pound. <marg simpson grumble>

Too bad I don't have somebody to cook for.
<double sigh>

mmmmmmmmmmm

my mouth is watering

I love to cook too, and I love to eat good food. I don't do it nearly enough becuase I live alone and it is a bit less fulfilling when you don't have anyone to share it with.

Keep talking about this and I will keep on salivating. :)

I understand completely.

But, *you* are somebody to cook for, you know.

But...I understand the sentiment.
More than you know.

>> I actually prefer the ones without the pecans. I don't know, but I find the ones with the pecans don't seem as gooey and good. Both of my grandmothers made awesome butter tarts. I would spend most of my summer each year on my maternal granparents' farm, and almost everyday my grandmother was baking something - bread, buns, pies, tarts . . . I miss those homemade goodies < sigh >

>> Uh-oh :-( I, too, am very territorial of my chocolate covered almonds. My younger brother, who rarely ate chocolate or candy when we were growing up, lived at my place for about a year, and he would get into the chocolate covered almonds when I had bought some. I was like wha wha whaaaaaaaaaaat are you doing, you don't eat chocolate LOL.

>> I'll send the fed-ex guy right over with one of those insulated delivery packs to pick up the leftovers ;-). Same day delivery isn't too expensive, is it? :-)

Enjoy, Larry.

sounds delicious!

Here was MY lunch: Luna bar, spoonful of tuna, tootsie pop, handful of chili-flavored pistachios, glass of water, and 2 slices of left-over sliced turkey luncheon meat. And some pretzels. Can you tell it was a 'scavenger' sort of meal?

soooo jealous about your tasty dinner!

Still, I'd rather have traded company for leftovers.
