Babble retirement

Posted by Phil on May 13, 2005, at 7:13:42

I think it's time to give my mouse wheel a rest.
After 6 years there isn't much ground I haven't covered here.
I'll probably post occasionally on 2000.

Peace all and take care.

Phil

Hey, I think you missed the fine print when you registered where it says "You can checkout any time you like, but you can never leave".

I enjoyed your posts, and I'm sorry to see you go. You will be missed. Be well and take good care of you.

All the best,

Tamara

I'll miss your wit. Hopefully, this is just a phase that will pass---maybe.

I hate to whine, but I hope you change your mind. Babble already feels the loss of too many souls. Yours would be a very sad one to add to that list.

hi phil:)

it's been nice knowing you. if you change your mind (which seems to happen frequently to ppl who 'try to leave', lol..) we will welcome you back happily. i'm trying to moderate my time here myself..it seems to be becoming some kind of an addiction..

maybe i could go crash your party over at 2000 occasionally if i want to say hi?:) or is that like an exclusive chronologically-dictated homestead?

anyhoo, wish you the best, p.

take care,:-)

I set up my babble mail so someone could alert me if somebody was dissin me behing my back.
Hey, I've been around the block, you know. When one says they're leaving, it's all nice and fuzzy, but once you close the door it's like,'The pr*ck has left the building!!' WooHoo! Fire up the margarita machine!! Partaaayyy!!'
Dr Bob's like,"He wasn't always uncivil but, let's face it, the guy has problems." Hey! No sh*t! I was fine till doctors put me on medication; then all hell broke loose...excluding my bowels.
You know, in all seriousness, back in 1947 when I arrived at babble, Dr Bob was paying us to post.
Still pays me. (Sorry Dr Bob..it slipped). The only stipulation was for me to put a magnetic sign on my truck saying 'See you at babble.' I can't tell you how nervous this made my clients and in the pizza delivery biz, I live off tips.
I don't know if everyone knows this but this was my 800th leaving babble post. Hey, you gotta do a friend check occasionally. Call it ego, eh?
_________

Everyone has been so nice, but Nikki..what you said was incredible touching. I've read it 50 times and hope to commit it to memory some day. : ) Seriously, it was so sweet of you to post that to me.
I was pretty sad the other day when I posted. I really miss a lot of the old timers and didn't want to become a fossil here. There are so many people that have moved on(don't go Amy!)and I just get sad sometimes because, well, that's half my illness.
Anyway, maybe I spoke too soon. I now know that no one here has weapons of mass destruction.
What this true psycho-babble is leading up to is that maybe I shouldn't go just yet. This place is my home but it's not the place really, it's y'all...us.
So, I'm not ever going to talk in absolutes any more. Not *ever* (?)
Well, like I said, my mail is open and I have fresh coffee.
Besides, if I left, it would be one more OT'er splitting. I've still got a lot to say(take this post, please) and there's even more to learn.
Sorry this is so long-winded but we're all friends here. At least I hope we can be.

Take care,

Glad to see it. You're too much a part of Babble, not to mention someone whose posts I enjoy.

Sigh. Now if only Nikki would believe that her words are perfectly good enough. And Shar would join us from time to time. And...

Well, you get the idea.

Glad you'll be around, Phil.

I'm trying.. I am slowly coming out to play more!

Its just.. for me.. if someone says "what is x" I can quite easily explain x..

But the general support thing.. I just don't know how to say things anymore.

I'm a "crisis buddy" for my friend D.. when she's in a crisis she calls me.. Now, this is fine, (even though I hate chatting on the phone!) as I know I just need to get her talking, about anything, to calm things down.. I'm great at the talking about all kinds of cr*p to take someones mind off things..

I need a catch phrase I can use to tell people I care, that they have my complete support, and just to shout if theres anything I can do!
Someone I know elsewhere is Jewish, and always leaves a "18" (Good luck for a Jew apparently) which I think is simply perfect.

Must think of something

*smiling hugely*

And you gave me a nice ego boost to boot!

I promise to put more effort in then *nods* You stay, I try harder.. sounds like a damned good deal!

I'll start after the episode of Buffy I'm watching *L* (Series 5 seems to be taking forever to work through! 4 sundays in a row and I'm still only up to episode 13!)

*clinks her margarita to yours*

Thanks Phil.. you've really made my sunday a good one

I'm not too good at Social, myself. :( Playfulness is something I rarely experience, and then in such idiosyncratic ways that I'm afraid that few others "get" that I'm being playful at all, never mind how.

I enjoy reading the lighthearted posts, but lighthearted is a bit beyond my very literal and sequential mind.

Even being supportive is a stretch for me, since I have a strong streak of "fix it" running through me.

However, if you don't mind my saying so, I think you're one of the greatest resources this board has. You know more about borderline personality disorder and mental health advocacy than nearly anyone here. I'm always wanting to tell people that I'll bet Nikki could answer that question, but I'm never sure if it would be welcomed by you.

Awww, thanks Dinah..

Feel free to flag up posts to me.. I don't get through even 50% of the posts on here as I don't really have the time anymore, so probably miss alot.

I also worry though that if I don't put some fliffy stuff into a post, then people will think I am not being supportive.. I've been trying very hard to post on one particular subject here recently, but am worried the other person mght get upset if I just make suggestions, and no fluffy stuff..

Darn this stupid brain of mine!!

No fluff needed, Nikki. Some people are better at some aspects of support than other aspects. But all support is appreciated. With or without fluff.
