NEVER NEVER **NEVER** Stop Effexor Suddenly!

I know three people who've taken Effexor and ALL THREE are in terrible shape now! An old friend is still suffering neurological disturbances such as loss of balance, vertigo, and stuttering FOUR YEARS after being abruptly removed from this drug. It took my mother 3 months of migraines, vomiting, dizziness, falling down, nausea, and the certainty that she'd gone mad to wean off this drug. My current partner was on it only a few months and now has severe stuttering problems, a totally shattered confidence level in all areas of his life, and MUCH worse social anxiety and generalized anxiety than when he started--and he took over a month to wean.

What I am wondering is, since 100% of the people I know who've taken this drug suffered for it, and I see from some of your posts you have too, IS ANYONE SUING THE HOLY LIVING (UNLADYLIKE WORDS HERE) OUT OF THE MANUFACTURER YET?

Working on it!! :-)

Hoping to hear something positive from one of my most favorite law firms to see if they can help us. They are looking into whether it is something that they feel as though they want to take on and will let me know when they have finished their investigation. If anyone can do the job properly, I promise you it is this law firm. From what we have been able to tell, the typical lawyers that do this stuff all want dead people for clients. Check out some of my other posts somewhere or other. I've been on my soapbox for the last few months...but I did quit cold turkey in September and am feeling pretty good besides some stomach and neck problems. It did take a long time, though.

Do PLEASE let me know what happens with that! My old friend will be of no help as I can no longer contact him, but I think my mother would swear out an affidavit on her miseries if she thought it would help other people avoid the miseries she went through, and I KNOW my partner would be into helping out! Also, I may be able to arrange a statement from his former mental health care provider, who treated him with the Effexor and knows quite well what he was like before and after that drug--the only reason she's former, for the record, is because we now live about 700 miles from her office, not because of anything to do with the Effexor. And by "arrange a statement" I mean that if I contact her and ask for such a thing I believe she'd be willing to put her professional opinion on paper.

I promise to post any word of progress. In the meantime, please report your problems with Effexor to the FDA. Here's the link:

https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/medwatch/

It would also help for you to keep a simple chronology of the problems that you have had while taking Effexor/XR and after you stopped taking it so that you have it ready to go at a moment's notice in case we secure representation and it is requested by them. If you don't want to check in here, drop me a line, and I will add you to my list of people that are patiently waiting for help....Either way, I will post what happens.

I will point this out to my partner and see if he's feeling up to posting there!

I believe we still have the notebooks he kept detailing not only the precise difficulties he was having, on a day-to-day basis (he kept them to help his counselor) but also detailing what seemed to help which problems.

I will routinely set all my posts on this thread to notify me of replies (old habit from an online card-trading board I participate in), so I will know within 24 hours (depending on when I'm online) of any replies! :)

In Regards To Suing Wyeth Labs

While I do not know if this board is an appropriate way to disseminate the contact information, I **HAVE**, by rare incursion of good fortune in my recent days, located an attorney handling a class-action lawsuit against Wyeth Laboratories over the side effects of Effexor.

Couldn't have come at a better time. On Monday, the car broke down, then the b/f broke down, THEN he got fired for having an unreliable vehicle. It's been a LONG week :/

This is the end of the thread.
