I do not know how much it matters, with respect to my current psychological struggles, but I know it does.
My disconnect from the land occurred about a year before my breakdown. The spirit of the land supported me, took me close to its heart.
Horses and dogs mean manure and compost, and space for growing things. In a quiet place. It sounds like heaven to me.
Wistfully,
Lar

Actually, I prefer my Spaghettios at shelf temperature and right from the can, but I would be willing to allow you your own spoon; perhaps even your own can.
And with my son now gone, his room sits empty, unless you count everything he left in there, but his bed's available. The dogs all sleep on mine so you could have his to yourself.
If you come in spring you may participate in the mixing of the mortar, the laying of the block, the writing of names in the concrete basement floor, the riding in the wind on a mighty steed with a mind of its own, racing over the logging trails in the forest where I live.
I love American vintage iron horses, but sharing the control, feeling the sheer power and energy...
Ah... I do get distracted. Such joy.

I'm a bit scared of you because you're not afraid to say what you think and I'm afraid I might have pissed you off in the past, but you know, it would be very interesting to be face to face with you.

Reading that gave me a shiver. Wow, what freedom in life. JPJ, it's fantastic to know someone who has that. Thank you.

Well, I could extend the invitation... and we can find road kill, no problem. Which do you prefer, Lar, deer, deer, deer, skunk, deer, porcupine, deer, turkey, deer, deer, or one of the rarer items on the pavement, such as Canadian goose, crow, bear (I'm gonna cry about this), opossum, moose, fox, coyote...
No, on the road kill cafe menu there is no wolf, bobcat, lynx, cougar/mountain lion/panther (all pantheris), nor any other protected species. They, being protected, are turned over to Natural Resources, as they should be.
Emmy, what suits your fancy? Carcass breath might be more flavorful than you think. Don't plead vegetarian, there is plenty edible flora here.
Besides, if I can get you and Larry and Atticus here, I can coax you into construction. Help lay block, or install an electrical or plumbing system? OK, how about phone lines?
Been on a horse (one with a life) lately? Wake up with dog breath in your face and a mutt on your chest?
Now you got me thinkin...
(rolling my eyes)
any other interested prospective laborers... errr...

you are afraid of Atticus???
Oh, my dear, dear Susan, when he says what he thinks does it not encourage you to also speak your mind?
I'm doubting that something you've said would be so horrible as to pyss off Atticus righteously. However, if you have, were you not just speaking your mind? In which case, Atticus could have myriad unimaginable reasons to be pyssed off, but that'd be his problem.
The man can't even figure out how to put the keys in and turn the ignition yet; he's still standing there looking baffled at the lack of a place to put his crank (now, now, Atticus).
And he's a poet, not even one tough enough to be struggling in poverty in a little cold attic "garrett" somewhere. And poets are notorious for using mind altering substances to alter their minds so they can be poets (even if his are legitimately prescribed for a professionally diagnosed psychiatric disorder).
Just look at old Edgar Allen. Now, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if he was bipolar, at the very least. This shrink stuff just hadn't quite made it to the point where Edgar could get a prescription for his meds.
Ok, where am I now?
Oh, helping Susan help Atticus find his "any" key.
Holy Shyte!!!
I feel a bray coming on...

No worries, luv. I think the "distancing" effect of cyberspace sometimes makes me much less diplomatic here than I am in real life. I'm actually not a bogeyman. I just play one on Babble to have a bit of fun with Dr. Bob on occasion. I'm definitely not inhibited, but I'd never be malicious to someone in real life or abrasive face-to-face. Too much of that going around already. ;) Atticus

That menu sounds irresistible, but let's get down to brass tacks: Do they have Guinness at the stores or a nice smoky pub nearby? You have to understand that as a lifelong Manhattanite, I'd likely be more out of my element than anyone else. Perhaps you could clear-cut a forest and put in a grid of asphalt streets and avenues. Besides, I bet the animals would love it. Animals dig pavement. Honestly. ;) Atticus

Really, Susan, Plain Jane's right. I can't remember anything you've written that pissed me off so badly I'd hold a grudge. In fact, I can't think of anything you've written that pissed me off, period. I might've disagreed with vigorous language, but whatever it is you're thinking of, it's long forgotten.
Besides, my killin' days are long behind me. Truly. Haven't laid someone out in cold blood in, oh, must be two or three weeks. And how about this? If I did feel the need at Jane's gathering, I'd kill Larry. Not that I have anything agin him, but I wouldn't want Susan to worry. There, see? Problem solved. Easy as houses. ;) Atticus

The Guinness might involve a minor road trip (always fun); the nice smoky pub: the Upper Peninsula is the smoky pub capital of the nation, the nice part, well, it's all in perception.
>You have to understand that as a lifelong Manhattanite, I'd likely be more out of my element than anyone else.

I am requesting anyone except the writer of the statements in question clarify the connection with ,[...the reply...] and [...where he was comming from...]. If I have a clarification , then I could havea better understanding of this and be able to respond better to the statements connecting my name with [...was comming from...].

Friends,
I have read all of the posts on both boards relevant to [...where ...comming from...]and have come up with an alternative to what is being written concerning this. I would like to write what I see about this and then request that an independant person write an opinion concerning as to what is happening here concerning this.

Lou,
I may have diverted the course of this thread some, in a relevant vein. But..
I hope you don't mind I reposted this as a New Thread because, Lou, I believe your situation and request truly demand a New Thread, so as to make it clearly separate from the original subject of the other thread(meeting fellow Babblers) and give your subject the notice it deserves.
Look below, at the new posts for this New Thread.

Atticus,
Pre-emptive PBC protocol
To anyone reading this thread.Atticus: ">>Besides, my killin' days are long behind me.
Atticus is kidding here.
>>If I did feel the need at Jane's gathering, I'd kill Larry. Not that I have anything agin him, but I wouldn't want Susan to worry.
Atticus is not threatening to harm anyone, he is joking with the other participants of this thread, particularly with Susan, who, if I am correct, is not hurt or offended by this remark. Neither, unless I miss my guess, is Larry."
Apologies on behalf of all jesters if anyone IS indeed upset by this.
END OF PROTOCOLAtticus,
>>I think the "distancing" effect of cyberspace sometimes makes me much less diplomatic here than I am in real life."
Ditto. However, I have had occasion to be diplomatic here, also. ;)

There are posts in the thread with my name. Do you know of a way to have those posts within the thread taken out and put in your new thread?

In reply to Lou's reply to just plain jane-sepbab » just plain jane, posted by Lou Pilder on January 20, 2005, at 11:55:20
I don't understand something. Why do you choose subject lines that start "Lou's reply to XXX" when it is obvious you're the poster (Lou Pilder is in black beside the subject line) and it's obvious you're replying to a specific person (there's a >>XXX because you ticked the "add name of previous poster" box when you replied).
Any contextual clues disappear, and it becomes a task to try and figure out what you're replying to (if the thread is complex enough to have multiple pre-existing subject lines).

Well, then, let's head off a PBC at the pass. I do not feel offended, put down, hurt, or even itchy due to Jane's comments. I found them perfectly civil and fun, besides. So don't PBC her on my account, Dr. B. Takes a lot more than that to put my knickers in a twist. ;) Atticus
