Yeah, Kiwifruit make my tongue sore too. I am not that keen on them...

They used to be called 'Chinese Gooseberries' till we started growing them over here and exporting them so now they are 'Kiwifruit'.

They are good on pavlova :-)

pavlova? i'm lost.

yeah, it seems lots of the kiwis are coming from new zealand. that's where you live, right? maybe you should consider converting to lesbianity and marrying me so i have a good excuse to immigrate. ;) it sounds/looks/must be idyllic.

> pavlova? i'm lost.

Do you guys have merangues over there? It is like a really really big one. Bout the size of a cake. It should (IMO) be chewey in the middle and crispy on the outside. You put cream and either strawberries or kiwifruit (though why not both?) on top - and / or chocolate chips.

> yeah, it seems lots of the kiwis are coming from new zealand.

:-)
Yup, hence 'kiwi'fruit :-)

>that's where you live, right?

Yup.

>maybe you should consider converting to lesbianity and marrying me so i have a good excuse to immigrate.

Heh heh you are the second person I have had that conversation with (though the first who has mentioned the conversion bit). Shall we get married in NE or if you come over here the law is changing so we would be allowed as of March...

So what are the citizen benefits of being an American these days???

What's NE?

In the U.S., we're a heck of a long way from allowing gay spouses citizenship, even though we have marriage in one state. very unfortunate. except that I can't imagine why anyone in your lovely country would want to move to this godforsaken place, anyway. ;)

actually, i like it here, but i bet you guys are more civilized. you're getting gay marriage in march????? that's cool if so. i didn't hear about it.

Oh. I thought NE was short for New England which was the state where gay marriage was legal.

> In the U.S., we're a heck of a long way from allowing gay spouses citizenship, even though we have marriage in one state.

Ah. Though citizenship isn't automatic with 'regular' marriage either, is it?

For study :-)

> you're getting gay marriage in march????? that's cool if so. i didn't hear about it.

Yup, apparantly so. 2 guys have booked in for the first day and all :-)

hee hee. that's cute. new england is not a state, but a region. but you're not far off the mark because the only state where gay marriage is legal (massachusetts) *is* *in* new england.

yeah, actually, it basically is. unless it's a fraudulent marriage (i.e., you only married to get citizenship).

I just bought a bag of kiwi fruit. Thanks for reminding me how good they are for you. I had heard once that kiwi fruit has more vitamin C that oranges. I usually eat fruit for breakfast, and I'm sure I'll enjoy them tomorrow.

He he, yeah ok. Whats the name of that state then? Or is Massachusetts the name of the state? (Yeah ok this probably seems basic to you guys but try telling me about the New Zealand wars...)

> unless it's a fraudulent marriage (i.e., you only married to get citizenship).

Ya. But how do they determine whether you 'only' married to get citizenship or not???

yeah, massachusetts is the name of the state. :)

i know zippo about n.z. so you win no matter what.

if you can believe it, if they suspect you of marrying for citizenship, they have officials show up at your house unexpected to make sure you're living together and sharing a bed, etc. and then they separate and grill you about stuff like the color of your toothbrush, sexual positions, or whatever. it's nutso, really.

Ha ha, I thought Massachusetts was part of New England and that New England was the name of the state :-)
