How to help when you are so far away

Posted by AdaGrace on December 16, 2004, at 8:01:54

I feel so very helpless with the situation with SAW. I really, really want to help her, and I don't know how to reach her. I want so baddly for her to feel better. It hurts my already broken heart........

I think you help just by being here for her. She knows she can be completely honest here and that you (and all of us) will support her. We might not always agree with each other, but you can say what you are truly thinking and feeling here.

And that is a wonderful gift.

Keep reaching out with your spirit. Believe me, when you are in a really dark place, that really helps. Keep asking questions too. I am more honest with my online friends and sometimes I shock myself when they pose questions and I figure out how badly I am doing. And keep encouraging her to stick with it and get help. I so often want to run away from therapy, to wrap myself up and away from the world but I know I won't make it if I don't keep trying. My friends here help me keep trying.

I feel your grief at not knowing what to do. But truly, you are doing it. Take care of yourself and just be available.

I was touched by your post.

I want to do more......I can't though when she has no internet access. I am just so very scared. I feel completely helpless.
