happy canadian thanksgiving
gobble gobble gobblei made a turkey with all the fixins
please come over and help me eat the leftoversi have turkey w/ gravy and homemade cranberry sauce (with orange in the cranberry)
stuffing (with dried fruits - figs, apricots, cherries)
wild rice casserole (lots!)
sweet potatoes (with brown sugar and nutmeg)
green beans
salad (romaine with mushrooms, red peppers, and mangoes)
french bread
and leftover appetizers - veggies with homemade hummusmy friends brought dessert!
i have pumpkin pie
chocolate cake
black forest cake
with whipped cream!there is a bottle of red wine
and eight beersit's a miracle it all fit in the fridge
gobble gobble gobblei am so grateful that we are alive to celebrate this day
so grateful to spend it with friends
so grateful to be privileged enough to make such a splendid meal
so happy to have something wonderful to come from my own handgobble gobble gobble

WOW!!! I'm impressed. That's quite the Thanksgiving spread. You were one VERY busy cook. It sounds like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving to share with those you love. Sounds like a good time was had by all!

I love leftovers.
Cranberry sauce is never depleted, it must regenerate in the fridge overnight.
I get to do this again ina month and a half.

I love watching movies with thanksgiving dinners in them. It is a tradition that we don't have this side of the world. (THat and Halloween) Straight to Christmas for us.

partly cloudyFor the very first time ever we bought a complete turkey dinner with all the trimmings from "Meals To Go" at Loblaws (grocery store). It just had to be ordered 24 hours in advance and paid for at the time of ordering. Previously we have always cooked the dinner but circumstances this year made that impossible this year. We had also considered going to Swiss Chalet but opted for the other instead.

I have a HUGE weakness for salty crunchy food and the fries you mentioned (we call them chips) would just about send me over the edge. I can almost taste them.
Just SO not fair. I have just finished my fat free yoghurt and meal in a glass mixed with water instead of milk and am ABSOLUTELY not satisfied and I am hungering for those fries and might just hop on an airplane to come get some.

angel girl - i started at 7:30 yesterday morning cooking and cleaning
dinner was ready to serve by 6.
i can totally understand why you didn't cook
if i wasn't a little hypomanic these days i don't think i could have pulled it off!
the toilet blew up but everybody enjoyed the meal (said it was the best turkey and food they'd had over the turkey day weekend) and we played with the ouija board and had a great time.

i always order extra chalet sauce
one little dipping bowl is not enough!
my old roommate used to melt butter in the sauce. that was gross. he also used to steal cutlery from there. i'm pretty sure i have a swiss chalet knife in my drawer.

however i had st hubert in montreal (or was it quebec city ... or somewhere else in quebec ... can't remember now) and i was distinctly unimpressed
why?
because they don't have THE SAUCE
that's right, it's all about the chalet sauce.
and i will happily take yours any day, larry hoover.chicken's chicken, but it's all about sauce :)

we have Spur - all over the country. They make the yummiest fried onion rings.
We have Kentucky Fried Chicken and Nandos Grilled Chicken.
Then there's Macdonalds (of course!)
And Steers (good burgers)
And plenty plenty pizza places of all sorts of names.
Umm, another restaurant chain is Saddles, almost identical to Spur.
And Buffalo Bills - great steaks
I'm hungry again. I'll drink a glass of water. I'll have it with sauce please.
