please help me
im freaking out, i have an appointement with a shrink (not my reg pdoc) for a "mental exam" for a review of my disability. ive been getting ssd for 3 years and keep thinking they'll think im a fake and i'll get denied and have to go back to work (my trial work period ended in a breakdown) i'm really scaredwhat are the appointments like? what kind of questions do they ask? my appointment is for monday

I haven't had an exam by a Social Security mental examiner, but if I were to offer any advice, it would be to just be honest and just be yourself. The purpose of the examination is not to prove that you don't deserve benefits; rather it is to make sure that you get the benefits that you need.
During my first SSDI interview, I initially got the impression that the interviewer thought I was faking my illness, but very quickly, he was able to see that I wasn't. The doc that you will see is first of all, a doctor. His or her job is to help you. If you need the benefits you are receiving, I don't doubt that you will continue to receive them. Just be honest, just be yourself.

> what are the appointments like? what kind of questions do they ask? my appointment is for mondaywhen i was on ssi i had to go through the samething seeing dr.'s that i didn't know scaried the he!! out of me so i just was myself and they said i was nuts, that's more scary then them thinking that your faking it, i to thought that they were thinking that i was faking it and it made me scared that i thought that my own dr.'s weren't giving me real meds and that they thought that i was faking it too. i know now that i am sick and that i can't work. good luck w/ it all
