back in treatment

Posted by octopusprime on August 2, 2004, at 17:23:56

just an fyi for some of the people i have been chatting with in open ...

it has taken me some time but an incident that took place this weekend lead me to resume medical treatment for the "manic" episode (at least that's what i'll call it). the doctor i saw was suitably horrified by my description of the problem. i will be having a psychiatric evaluation soon (but i do have to schedule it myself). i didn't want to take medication every day but it's abundantly clear i have to. i'm on seroquel 25mg twice a day for 10 days until i'm evaluated properly.

so thanks esp dinah and falls ... it was a few weeks ago you encouraged me to go ... i wish i had taken your advice then. but i suppose now's good too.

I don't know what happened, sweetie, but I hope you can feel the hugs. We all hate the meds . . . I think the people who post on babble are the strongest people in the world, cuz we are trying to find a way to stay on the meds, and that takes a whole lot of courage . . . something the average person doesn't understand.

Hang in there, love, and I will see you in open:~)

thanks so much for the support, guys :)

i feel like i'm hung over today but i haven't been drinking. hung over on the after effects of my own brain chemicals, i suppose. it sure is quiet in there with drugs! much calmer.

the intake worker will see me tomorrow afternoon. i may be referred somewhere else if they don't think i'm really manic. they only treat schizophrenics and manics at this treatment centre. everybody else gets to schlep across the city. hey at least i'm not the nuttiest in the neighbourhood!

I'm glad you're feeling better. Drugs have been the only thing that ever helped me. I've been taking them every day for about 20 years. When they work, they're great. When they don't, life sucks.
