Job interview and stuff

Posted by TexasChic on July 26, 2004, at 10:50:46

Well, I have my interview today, and what does my boss do but jump down my throat as soon as I get in (nit picky stuff about work). Then, she says I have to have a note for my 'dentist appt'. She's never asked for one before, but this will be my third time to take off for the 'dentist'. The other ones were real of course, and this is really my interview. I already felt guilty about lying because I don't like to lie if I can help it. The one saving grace is I do have to stop by the dentist's office to pick up some dental trays, so I'm hoping I can get a note then and it won't give a time on it. If it does, I don't know what I'll do. This is just not what I needed on a day I was already nervous. Anyway, I just needed to gripe. I really hope I get this job!

Good luck and let us know! (nm) » TexasChic

The dentist I used to work for would print "hall passes" for patients who needed them. It shouldn't be a problem. More importantly - best of luck on your interview. You will dazzle them!

Good luck. Don't let the current job stress affect you. Deep breath.

And, if needed, I predict a big traffic jam on the way to the dentist.

I'm sending post interview good vibes that when the interviewer thinks about any other candidates, they won't even remember their names. Cause you got the job.

Thanks Poet and Mel!

The interview went *great*! I absolutely loved the place. They seemed to really like me and said my resume stood out to them because I had just the experience they wanted. Now I just have to wait and see how I stack up to the other applicants. I have a good feeling though. I had so many things that could have gone wrong but didn't. First off, I realized half way there that I had 7/27 written down as the date! I remember her switching days on me, but I guess I had the 26th in my head. Well, I decided to go ahead and go – what else could I do? So I got there and they didn't seem to notice (they had a temp setting the appts, so I guess they thought she messed up). Then I kind of choked at first when she asked me to tell her about myself, but I got past it, and she was just the HR lady anyway. Then I met with the Art Director and got along with her great. There was alot of laughing involved. What they do is almost exactly what I'm doing now, except more girly! The place I am now is a male oriented catalog, so girly would be wonderful!

Then I swung by the dentist, and when I asked for a note, they asked me what time to put on it. I told them the situation and they laughed really hard because I was so embarressed and said, that's okay, what time do you want us to put? Then as I was leaving we were all laughing and they were saying, that's why we're the best dentist office ever! It was so cool. And I got back in time to put at least 45 minutes more in to appease the boss.

Anyway, I don't have much time, but I just wanted to share the good news. I'll talk to yall tomorrow.

And thank you so much for the good vibes! I really think they worked!
