a pretty please request..

Posted by karen_kay on June 27, 2004, at 9:31:37

i've been having nightmares again :( <------that's sad karen) and they are absolutely horrible. (nothing that's happening in my life, or ever has ahppened in my life, but still very horrible, leaving me shaking and not sleeping and too scared to move :( <----- again with the frown..

could people (anyone? please) try to send me thoughts of sweet dreams before i go to sleep? i just don't want this to become a 'found again' habit....

where's the dream weaver when i need him? is he hiding somewhere?

thank you in advance (can you spare just a few? pretty please? i'll return them during my waking hours, i promise!)

Of course I will, Karen Kay. I really am sorry that the nightmares have come back. I don't dream, but I'm all too familiar with nighttime fears.

Have you tried doing something symbolic to ward off the bad dreams?

We went to the craft store and bought a very inexpensive dreamcatcher kit for my son when he was having trouble with nightmares. Of course, he's much younger than you are. But maybe you could consider it a symbolic reminder of all the bablers sending good thoughts your way.

KK,
Of course you can borrow my sweet dreams until you find your own. Mine must be somewhere. They were usually pretty good if I remember correctly. I used to dream all the time, but meds seem to interfere with that. But I'll send lovely dream thoughts your way. And I'll leave out the recurring "at school but not knowing what the heck is going on and about to have a test" dream.

I'm sorry you are having nightmares. It sounds just awful. Take care, and maybe a nice cup of soothing tea before bedtime?

Here's a hug to save for a post-nightmare wake up, if you need it ((((((((((KK))))))))))))

Take care,
gg

i already have about 5 dream catchers (all gifts because i used to have nightmares so frequently, my sisters, mom and friends would buy them for me. and they honestly worked for a while) but, perhaps i do need some sort of night-time ritual, jsut to put my mind at ease. at this point, i'm not scared to go to sleep or anything, just terribly frightened when i wake from one. and no matter what i did last night, i kept dreaming the same thing.

but, thank you so much for your kind thoughts and suggestion. i'll definetely try that... perhaps i'll say a prayer before bed? maybe that will help.

thanks again doll, you're always very sweet to me :) <----happy karen because of your sweetness!

aww, jsut what i need! a hug when i awake from one! honestly, i thought about waking my old man, but i was too scared to move. and i frequently have a habit of looking too much into my dreams (ie: maybe i need to start therapy again, maybe this will really happen, maybe i need to get more involved with politics) i'm trying to avoid all those thoughts, but if i have another one, i'm protesting wars and lobbying for better stalking laws!

strange thing is, they start out nice (last night, i 'dated' (ok, i didn't 'date' really) kramer from seinfeld.... how's that for a dream? but, my mother didn't like him :( (see, i have very strange dreams!) after that, things got ugly.

thank you so very much dear... it's appreciated. and if i find your dreams, i'll send a few back to you! promise!

Maybe you could try counting Babblers? Like this...

One All Done
Two All Dones
Three All Dones
One kid
Two kids
Three kids
Four kids

...how would that be for sweet dreams? ;)

> perhaps i'll say a prayer before bed? maybe that will help.

I'll say some for you. Who shall I pray to?

Sorry you're having bad dreams, sweetie. I wish I could take them all away forever. Want me to come there and read you some bedtime stories? I know lots of good ones.

(((((kk)))))

KK honey, I am sending you my dream guard who wards off nightmares. He is soft and furry and cuddly to keep you comforted but should the nightmare monster come along he gets ferocious and has his teeth bared and ready to bite and protect.....Thoughts of warm water and sandy beaches and blue skies are coming your way....

I love ya kiddo,

Momma

Karen,

A couple of things about nightmare that I'm trying:

1) watch what you eat before bed (record to see if something routinely sets you off)

2) What are you doing before bed on the nights these occur? (record again to look for patterns)

3) record the dream when you wake up and THINK of a powerful positive ending. Try to "finish" the story in a better way, if you can. Then

4) Say it outloud. You take some of the power out of it by telling someone else. You can also "take" a companion into the dream with you in the new ending.

Please let me tuck you in. Know that I've checked under the bed and in the closet for monsters. I locked the window and I have placed the special "mom-hug" blanket over you. So if you do wake up, you can "feel" the hug instantly!

Sweet dreams.
Daisy

I HATE it when those happen. The mood really lingers. Hmmm....do you think listening to some nice stories on tape as you fall asleep would help? Do the nightmares correspond to any med changes? I know Paxil was wearing me down with bad dreams at one point.

If I find myself with any good dreams, I'll send them right on to you! I hope you get some peace at night.

Karen, every night before bed I will send you different Bean scenarios. I promise you will wake up laughing every morning.

((KK))

you're all very sweet!

so sweet that i didn't have one last night (thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!)

i'll pretend daisy's tucking me in, momma sent the hound, i'll count babblers (but, if i spend all my time before bed thinking of kid, i would never sleep!), and i'll drift off and have many bean stories to tell... i almost can't wait to go to sleep now!

and emme, there's no med change or anything like that. perhaps i could understand if i ate taco bell before bed (strange dreams brew from that, you know!) but i didn't do anything out of the ordinary. but, i'll hold my pillow very tight at night and think of the sweet people here at babble and hope i can get to sleep (you're all so lovely, i fear i'd think and think and never sleep)!

thanks again and send those thoughts tonight, just in case the nightmare bully tries to pull a fast one.

Great! That must feel wonderful to have a peaceful night.

Taco bell = strange dreams? Gotta wonder what they put in the sauce. Fast food as psychoactive substance! :) That little chihuahua always did look a bit....odd.
Maybe the nightmare monster has been banished. Sweet dreams tonight! I hope you have another good one.
