Hey! I'm getting tired of being left out of road trips around here!

OK, so I'm over ((29)) a mom and a boss...but I need to relearn how to have fun. Really, it was a homework assignment. List 10 things in the past month or so that were fun.

I couldn't do. How sad is that!?

Somebody help me. (Please, please don't suggest a bath, I hate them. They are boring...)

Baths in the public bathhouses in Japan are not boring. Anxiety producing, yes, being nekkid in front of others. But if you take your glasses off (and they get all steamed up anyway) then you can't see other nekkid people. So they can't see you either, right?

> Hey! I'm getting tired of being left out of road trips around here!

I can pick you up in a little over an hour (well truthfully with traffic and bridges it might be almost two depending on how deep in that mossy green northern area you live) Hey how big is YOUR car?? = )) A Civic coupe theoretically seats four....

I understand as I often recieve F's on those assignments from therp. F-U-N? scratches head grasping for memory of fun.......thinking......thinking.......

> Somebody help me. (Please, please don't suggest a bath, I hate them. They are boring...)

I'll forgive you for disparaging my piscean way of relaxation (and I don't live where there is a tub now so my scales have become very brittle over the past five years)

there is NEVER an age limit on a zh expedition as I find the diversity of people roadtripping to be half the expereince. Wait....just how far over ((29)) are you?!! kidding sweetie

C'mon along.

C'mon GG!!

I'm not sure there are a bunch of American bathhouses along our route so we'll just have to poll babblers for who will put up a carful of crazy chickies for a night or two. I'm personally leaning toward anyone with a hot tub or large old clawfoot.

But Daisy doens't like the whole bath thing so we need to figure out her needs. And what are your 'must haves' on roadtrips?

Oh you all have to listen to Beastie Boys and Sabbath and Zep when I'm driving as I need certain tunes to get me into that 'I'm driving for the next ten hours' zone.

So ladies we all must have our negotiables and non-negotiables and then we'll set off for the emerald city.

I wanna paint my nails and eat Zours. Can you all tolerate the fumes (of the nail polish)? Oh, and I get carsick if we drive anywhere before breakfast. And I get constipated and can't sleep worth a darn when I travel. Come to think of it, I'm not much for road trips. How about a send-off slumber party? Much easier to paint nails on level ground.

Thank you. Words cannot express how much I've missed you and I hope that the energy I've been sending has at least crested the top of the summit and should be sliding down into town for you.

I've been sending kind thoughts and hope along with that energy for a long long time now. Does my magick need tuning? how about a 2x4 to try to knock some sense into me? ;)

Okay fine Tabitha! We will drive the southern route across the USA AFTER dropping down your way for a slumber party. Can you put up me, KK, Daisy, GG, Spoc, and all the other gals invited by KK and the gang??

I've got plenty of fun polishes for tootsies.

We would never want you to have to deal with roadtrip clogged pipes as that isn't any fun. Carsickness too is a real drag. So you bet we would use your house as starting point where we could pack up the vehicle after a couple of girlie nights with you. Good?

> Oh and P.S. WELCOME BACK Kotter WELCOME BACK Kotter....... lolol thank you Tabitha for such a warm welcome. it means a lot....

<<<<< I'm so glad to hear you say that Zen, now I feel much less silly for already being packed and standing here with my nose pressed against the glass, waiting for y'all to pull up (I assume I'll hear you coming from a mile away, either due to the beater car we ended up with or disturbing the peace)!

I was gonna try telling you that I could earn my keep by fixing the engine when we break down (and we will), and sweet talking the cops when we get pulled over (and we will), but it would have all been a lie because I'm actually not good at those things. Thanks for saving me from being a liar!

All I have to contribute is my fine self, huh? Let's see, what else am I good for... I'm good at making something interesting about monotonous, routine details (each prairie dog, country store or strip mall can remind me of a story or joke, but I'm good at shutting up too); I can be the driver for as long as anyone lets me; I can get things rolling each day by being a not-too-annoying morning person (unless I went to sleep at 4 AM eating Twinkies, Fritos and jelly beans -- then I can be a bit crabby in the morning); and I'm quite strong -- can toss all our luggage around like styrofoam whenever we disembark and re-embark.

That will be important, because I sense that we'll be stumbling into several side trips along the way -- meeting fun people and hopping a ship here, meeting fun people and hopping a private plane there. (But what gives, between all those fun people you'd think someone could carry the luggage for us!)

We WILL be driving a convertible, won't we?? I just can't picture it any other way. And can we listen to music in "era blocks," covering the sixties to present; from the moving to the headbanging? That always brings out so many good stories.

Ok, my nose is still against the glass -- don't make me jump into the car from an overpass, get over here!! (P.S... Greetings Zen! :)

I have 3 sets of metal jacks to bring along. Can we stop on the way and swing on the swings?

I'll take care of the menus: Breakfast - Ice cream. Lunch - Ice cream or Cream of Wheat. Dinner - Ice cream sundaes.

I don't know if I can do the fingernail polish thing - fingernail polish gives me claustrophobia. I wonder if I would get claustrophobia if I painted my toenails??

<<<< I am speechless and humbled. I bow to that ability. I am missing the Map Reading center of my brain (but if "nowhere" is indeed an option, then faking it on my shift should work ok). Whenever a driver shoves a map in my hands and DEMANDS that I get over it and just DO it ("NOW NOW NOW!!! DO I GET OFF HERE OR NOT??!!"), I am truly helpless. I don't LIKKKKE looking like the helpless female!!! But here, I am truly.... helpless.

How about those people who can get off a plane in strange city, get into the rental car and roughly know where they're going based on where the sun is or something like that??? I don't GET IT!!! But here's something redeeming -- I am NEVER afraid when I get lost. Always confident I'll find my way out of it, against all odds. But then, I've never been lost in the woods or the mountains. That would probably disturb me more than a little bit, on foot anyway... Can you guide us in those places too, using solar cues or crystals or whatever?

I am certain I was a carrier pigeon in a past life. I have had the fortune of living with first one man (hubby #1) and now the love of my life (hubby #2) who are frantic when lost. If no maps are available, I consult the stars - because they are so pretty and sparkling, not because I know how to use them - I look for animal tracks (not easy when you're on the highway, but RFA's are useful too), and I use my keen sense of smell.

That last skill came in particularly handy while in England searching for the Cadbury's chocolate factory. Bingo!!

I'm right there with you, spoc. We can be lost together. Until someone with that aspect of their brain comes along and points us in the right direction.

Meantime, I'll bring the crayons. And perhaps a fire extinguisher? You can't be too safe, you know.

Zen!! Glad you are back from Babble prison. So nice to see your letters. They look good all lined up in rows like that.

I don't get car sick, but I am very bossy. This can be annoying, but it helps when a decision needs to be made, such as...should we stop to piddle? Who paints whose toes, etc.

Welcome back Zen...
If I come on the trip I have all the same problems that tabitha has....
Hey Tabitha, how can we be so much a like?
I got car sick in a canoe on rocky water yesterday.
So maybe we can take a train? I love train rides.
Welcome back.....

what started out as a small road trip has turned into a large event. scott, can you handle this?
and, if everyone goes, where will we stay along the way?
ok, so now we need someone to finance our trip. any takers?

and here's my list of contributions:

unlike spoc, i can talk my way out of a speeding ticket (and public indecency, if need be. i have a feeling i should go practice those people skills i'm always harping on and on about.)

oh, i'm entertaining. i have a feeling people could just sit back and listen to spoc and i talk about nothing, for hours and hours, and be entertained.

i frequently smile, wave and flirt with all cars passing by (and semis i flash. we can count the number of times we get honked at and make a game of it... 'who gets more honks')

no roadmapping from me, but i'm never frustrated when we get lost. i'll find a way to make light of it.

oh, if car breaks down, i'm not so helpful. but, i am good at distracting until someone figures out what to do.

i can sit in traffic for hours and hours without becoming upset. i will work my best to pass that attitude over to everyone there.

i can hustle drinks, chips (yes spoc and emmy, fritos) and gum out of people at the gas stations. so, snack food will be provided.

but, just one more question.... all done!!!! are you coming or not? you need a vacation, and a road trip with 70 of the fiestiest gals ever sounds like something you need!!!!! hop on, i have room for you (always dear!)!

oh, and we can run from the law, if i choose to take my old man's car. that makes the game even funner. hiding out, driving even faster... hmmmm, a plan's a brewin!

... I can hold everyone's hair back when they throw up!!! (Sorry, been watching the old Sex & the City reruns starting up...) That's a real friend, right? Between the car sick and the partiers, we may have our share of that going on... (GG, bring air freshener too, will you?)

Oh, and sorry Dinah! Try not to get this image stuck in your head all day! But hey, maybe it'll help take your mind off other things... :- )
