For those who didn't post a list above:

Dunno what prompted me to post my list in the first place, but after reading all the lists that were posted, I felt a lot better. After all, if all those amazing people could suffer from depression, then it really wasn't a case of me being a total loser, right? We had the great good fortune to hear from a bunch of real winners. If such accomplished people can share the same sort of pain losers such as I suffer, well, maybe it's nothing personal, you know?

Reading those lists was inspiring for me. I hope that those of you who didn't post a list felt inspired, too, by what was shared and exposed.

Whatever inspired that first post, I'd like to issue a much gentler challenge to those of you who posted that you couldn't post:

You don't have to post a list of your own here, in public, which is so intimidating. You don't even have to tell anyone that you've made a list of your own -- although I really hope you'll post here that you have if you do, even if you don't tell us what's on it. You don't even have to avoid the "yes, buts." You know what? Despite the ideal world in which "Yes-But" does not exist, we live in this world, where sometimes the answer really is, "Yes -- but..."

I hope, though, that each of you will try to jot down a short list of a few things you value in yourselves. No set number, no rules -- heck, at times my list would have been pretty much limited to "I like the shape of my fingernail beds..." But it felt good to me, and I suspect to others as well, to clarify those elements of myself that I value. It made a difference. I hope you can give yourselves a similar gift, even if you keep it private.

And keep in mind that we share this board with someone who knows how to keep bees! That alone counts as a blessing in my book, today at least. Isn't that an interesting skill to have? And aren't we fortunate to be able to interact with one another, when there are so many such arcane and interesting skills available here?

We Need a List for Karen

A little bird told me Karen was "dying" to post her list but since she is Babble-fasting, we are gonna have to do it for her. Oh, and I have permission to "borrow" from some of the other lists, especially Scott's. (something about naked in the woods??)

so I'll start:

1) Karen has a gift for seeing the positives in most situations. She routinely plucks out that silver lining.

2) She calls me "dear" and "hon" in a way that makes me feel warm and cared for. (The feminist in me doesn't cring, for whatever reason!)

3) She invented Therapist Cookies. And we've had a blast figuring out how and what we can do with those...

OK...who's next?

LOL -- you're absolutely right, I was typing my response to the first couple of lists while you were posting -- I saw it when I reloaded the page a little while later.

Let's see, aside from making me laugh -- which is a very good thing for me, and I thank you -- the juggling boggles my mind. I have a friend who can juggle -- and has the patter to go with it -- and I used to just watch in amazement. (Gotta tell you, though, about the good driver part -- this is what I laughed at -- I think I'm a very good driver, too. With my last car -- an '82 Toyota Tercel -- I knew that car so well I could and did do a fair amount of what looked to passengers like pretty reckless manouvering. Now, I *knew* that car like a second skin, but every time I'd say anything that sounded like 'I'm a good driver', my ex-bf would do that routine from "Rain Man" -- "I'm an excellent driver. Dad lets me drive the car on Sundays." The worst was parking in a parking lot -- I'd swing into a space pretty blithely, and ex-bf would *gasp* in fear -- because, from the passenger seat, he would be CERTAIN SURE that I was going to hit the car next to us. You know? I really loved that car...)

So, you decide: I ignored your post because I'm totally snubbing you, or....

Thanks for that laugh, and for bringing up that memory. Guess I can add another to my list...

Codicil to Racer's List:

I am an excellent driver...

KK has the wonderful ability to make me laugh, enjoy myself and feel loved even when I'm resisting it with every bone (or depressed brain cell) in my body.

--Thanks for yesterday, Karen. Anyone ever tell you you're a sweetie?

<<<<<< I think you just called it, we finally have the answer as to what pulls your jealousy chain at some times, but not others! You *don't* mind, as long as it IS Group S. Just no one-on-one lovey dovey stuff without you! (Well, it may then further put you at ease to know, I won't actually be found in the first equation! But I can't control what you fantasize about, and certainly can't blame you for doing so with me involved) ;- )
