Now Dinah, that could get you a PBC......

(((Dinah))),

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/social/20040324/msgs/329240.html could get you a PBC. I work with people every day that have healthy habits and healthy lives. Perhaps you are unhappy today. Please hang in there, even when you don't want to.

I got healthy, and it wasn't easy. But I did. Is it because I don't agree with you sometimes that you don't think I could possibly be right and therefore must be lying and must really be unhealthy?

I challenge your vision by challenging you to tell us all what you will look and act like when you are healthy. If we are truly as unhealthy as you say, it'll give us all something to shoot for....

And I don't think a general question about the nature of mankind is worthy of PBC merit. But I shall direct this to Admin to see if it falls under the PBC guidelines.

But since it wasn't in reply to a post by you, I'm not quite certain why you think it was directed at you.

I'll let Dr. Bob determine the civility.

replying to your post. If you'll look at my post, you'll see that I was replying to the original post, not yours. It just happened to fall that way timewise. I hadn't even noticed that your reply was immediately above mine and was a bit worried about you for a minute there when you seemed to take my post as a personal response to you. I'm glad it is something so easily explained.

I just happen to think that people who go to therapists or are on psych meds aren't necessarily any more unhealthy than the public at large. And that everyone has their hangups and areas of dysfunction. But if you say that you and those who graduate from your program are free from the hangups of the general population, I'll be happy to exempt you and your graduates from the preceding statement if you prefer.

My post had nothing whatsoever to do with you in particular, I assure you.

In rereading that statement, I can see that it may come across as sarcastic, and want to clarify that that was not how I meant it. It's just that you had just stated that you were healthy and that you had seen many people obtain health, and I was afraid you would see my reiteration of my belief that everyone has hangups and areas of dysfunction as my trying to challenge that statement. Since I am not in any way trying to be provocative and am just trying to clear what appears to be a misunderstanding, I didn't wish to give further cause for you to feel offended.

...I see us both on the same side, the question is, "of what?" My crystal ball says that if you are the age your Bully*77 address implies, you have plenty of time to turn yourself into a fine therapist. ...and I would send you my family members. You will be like the rising of the Phoenix. Czek out John Bradshaw "Home Coming"... This is a Texan who went from Valadictorian of his high school, through a Catholic seminary, into a mental institution. He asks the TV audiance, "How does someone do that?" So no matter how poorly you feel some days, just remember there's some 'John Bradshaw' thats worse off than you. And he got healthy and became a successful therapist. How did he do it? He'll tell ya' that it was hard work and good therapy! See, you can do it! You're already doing it!

Thanks Rod.

I was neither born in '77 nor am I 77. The numbers were just convenient to my fingers when I registered.

Bet you still have plenty of time to do good work (nm) » Dinah
