Dumb Cra* that Happens to Me I Could Do Without

Posted by Susan J on March 25, 2004, at 16:42:55

Very ex ex-boyfriend e-mails, says he's coming to town and wants to *hook up.* As in sex, there was no question. Same breath tells me his wife is pregnant. Hooking up was never a possibility, it just saddened me to see what cruddy taste in men I had (hopefully do not *still* have)

Hi Susan J,
Sekou here, had a similar situation. In one particular situation (just having a simple breakfast with the "x"), I found myself in the bathroom crying after he tells me about the marathon he and his wife ran together. I was happy for him, but just simply miserable that it couldn't be me. I found myself very confused by my "x's" affection. I was still very attached emotionally.

I suggest you don't "hook-up". And if you must, leave the sex out. Invite him out, but take a girlfriend or two along for a "social" time. You'll just get hurt. And believe me, he'll probably leave you with the emotional mess.

Good luck:)

Eat ice cream - it always makes me feel better.

I call this the "shiver factor". When recalling one of these past exes, I do an exaggerated full body shiver, along with the appropriate look of well, how should I describe it? Ah, yes--perhaps 'muted horror' might do. And, I say, "What was I thinking?" (shiver shiver)

(((Susan))),

How are we so lucky to find and get involved with "bottom-dwellers"? Do we think they are cute? Are we so lonely and incomplete without them that all the "red flags" seem like "green flags" instead? Hmmmm....

I hope that it gets better for both of us...

<<LOL! If I knew the answer to that, I'd be married by now. But I do know I've been pretty much single the past two years and these years have been much easier to deal with. :-)
