Okay, it's way late, but I just got to my mom's house to get this.

This is first grade class pic.

BTW, anybody else have their hair get curlier as they got older? I'm in my mid thirties now, and my hair is curly! It always used to be really straight with cowlicks all over. What's up with that?

Did you make sure to set your photo album for public view? I think the default is private...

You're cute as a button. :)

I wish my hair got curlier. It's still the straight fine thin hair it always was. :( Except that it bends, not curls or waves but bends. So the super straight styles never work either.

My hair got frizzy. Not curly - it's wavy, but more frizzy than anything. So on the rare occasion that I do have it styled, they're always either curling it or straightening it.

And it drives me crazy when it's humid out. Makes me think of Hermione Granger...

:-(

But, believe it or not!!! I'm going to get my hair cut next weekend! I finally found someplace in my area to go!!! We'll see if I go through with it...maybe I'll take a pic, blank out my face, and post for y'all to see my hairstyle. While it's still cute - cuz that won't last long. I just don't have the patience.

Ah well...

yes i have had an encounter with mysterious curly hair. It is actually quite common, it usually has something to do with hormones. my staight hair went very curly during puberty and many years later decided to go back to the way it was originally. Very strange....I have looked into it and I am suposedly pretty normal :)

I wanna see what kind of cut you are getting!

I love hair cuts (and color) I change mine every few months... hehe. i now have golden brown hair that's cut very short- almost like a page boy style :)

What I wouldn't give for Hermione Grainger hair!!!

I guess it's that old wanting what you just don't have. Mine is not only straight and fine and thin, but hair thingies slide right out of it. And I love hair thingies! :(

Do post a pic!

Dinah,
I'm wearing pigtails tonight! I feel so cute. They're pretty comfy, too.

Okay, I cringe while asking this, but who's Hermione Grainger? If she's the Hermione who is the female sidekick in Harry Potter, it's so crazy that that got brought up. In looking at pictures this past weekend, there is one where I said I looked like Harry Potter because of the glasses (Mom sure did know how to pick 'em, at least they weren't the usual cat-eye.). Anyway, my husband said, "no you look like Hermione."

What a hoot!

That's the one! And I think she's as cute as all get out.

I think I started out early with a hair complex. My earliest years were spent with only my cousins for company. One had the most gorgeous carrot red hair, the other the most ladylike golden curls.

And me, with fine hair that was always atangle.

But I love the hair that curls or waves wildly. It speaks to me of freedoms I only dream of.

(Pigtails properly placed are the most comfy way to wear hair, as you can sleep on them too.)

The Ruffled Buddha

OK, this pic does not include the modified sumo wrestler stance, and the gloves are off, but the ruffles and buddhaesque qualities (pudgy hands for example) are still apparent. After seeing all the wondrous photos of wonderful children, I found help with scanning and it should be there.

Shar,
So cute and so interested in the camera. You look like a bright, curious little girl. She's still there in you at exactly that moment. I don't know what you and Dinah are referring to (and I don't need to if it's not appropriate for you). But I believe all moments, happy and painful are in us. So the ruffled Buddha is there, too.

Thanks for sharing this.

GG,
I'm always struck by pictures of children who have not lost their innocence, they have a sweet look of unspoiled childhood. I bet every one of us at PB has a picture like that, though for some, the look doesn't stay long because of what life brought their way. That's all I meant by what happened to the Ruffled Buddha. That she had to lose her innocence and trust in the world.

I suppose she is still in me, though now wrapped in loving armor so nobody can hurt her again.

Thanks for your thoughts,
Shar
