Thanks for asking, Emme. I felt better over Christmas but with the pressures of work mounting again, I'm feeling decidedly crabby again.

I'll try dropping the Depakote for a while again and see if that helps.

Hi Dinah,

I'm sorry you're back to feeling crabby and that work is so stressful. ((Dinah)) Is there anything that can be done to make work less difficult? What does the depakote tend to do to you? Take care and have a not-too-awful Monday.

Emme

I'm ready to collapse. I'm behind again, and it could cause serious problems. I just got the call today that a ball I had let drop while juggling ten others was a waaaay bigger deal than I had hoped...

I should have worked on Christmas.

I don't feel so well....

Ya, what was with today?!! so many computer problems...so many sick people coming in....so much work to do.
I just want to take a vacation...for a long long time....long time.
I just want to lay back on a nice white sandy beach and listen to the ocean lapping on the shore. I want to open my eyes and look up as my husband hands me a nice cool drink that has an exotic color and is real tall. I just want to sleep for 8hours straight through...and wake up refreshed. I want to weigh 120lbs again and look good in everything I wear. I want to have my own studio and paint part of every day. I want to have enough time and money to just be myself...no stress, no cortisol, no worrying...
instead I had this monday full of demands and stress. What's with this monday?

No, you shouldn't have worked on Christmas!

I think that it is really important to have time when you know that you are "off". I know that flexibility can be helpful, but at some point it just allows work to run your life.

I think I'll finish this when I'm not so tired and crabby...

...mine sucked too. After several days off, I should have been able to go into work refreshed - instead I felt a massive amount of anxiety going back; felt down about the things I didn't managed to accomplish while on a break; was generally crabby and quick to anger; and felt totally incapable of dealing with anything on my desk.

Maybe this is just meant to be our lot in life - workwise anyway.

Don't you wish you were one of those people who really loves what they do? Since you're not, you've got to be a little more forgiving of yourself.

I hope tomorrow looks better.

I did my best to juggle priorities, and feel like I missed the boat again. With no real understanding of how to keep it from happening again. That was work crisis number one today. The other crisis was not my fault.

But worst of all was my total emotional and mental collapse from the stress. I not only cried, but I pretty much lost my ability to think clearly and utter complete sentences. Not the best personal characteristics for dealing with work crises. Thank heavens for Klonopin.

It's discouraging when I was just congratulating myself on my improvement in functioning. Does it count as improvement if you fall apart less often? Does it count to my bosses?

Of course it does! Give yourself several gold stars.

Wishing you have a balanced week-- a little relaxation, a little productivity, a little quality time with the hubby, dog, and son. And at least seven healthy thoughts.

After a session with my therapist, who makes a great secure base, I felt better, even though I got almost no sleep last night trying to make the deadline. I also got even more bad news about it this morning. But I was calm enough to write a memo detailing a plan that, if my bosses can get together and agree on it, should solve the problem, which has to do with priority setting. I haven't got their feedback on it, but a coworker seemed to think it was a really good idea. And, as she said, if they don't agree, I can feel comfortable that they must not consider this deadline much of a priority.

So I feel good that at least I came up with what appears to be a sensible solution to an ongoing problem. It's at least worth a shot.

And since I worked through the night, I felt justified in spending some quality time with my son and husband (and dogs) when I finished mid afternoon.

And only one or two anxiety attacks today! No panic attacks! Hooray!!

(Or am I enjoying that lovely sleep deprivation happiness. No matter. I'll enjoy it.)
