I'm going to leave off the beer for a while and try to lose a few pounds, so I shall in the future be soberly circumspect. I'm going to give you all a vacation from my posts for a few days; you could probably use it. I'll keep reading, though, and if someone makes a direct inquiry of me, I'll jump in just long enough to answer it.
Karen Kay, I'm in awe of you getting through two books a day! How do you read that fast?
SB-417, there was a Cheesecake Factory in my Burg, put terrorists from The Center for Science in The Public Interest (you know, deadly movie theatre popcorn, heart attack on a plate fettucine), firebombed it. But seriously, long lines, eh? Do they have a "cheesecake nazi" who refuses you your fattening delight if proper procedures aren't followed? Everybody loves cheesecake. I'll check my yellow pages, see if they have one here. I think that'd be a GREAT place to take a date. You know, cheesecake is SENSUOUS.
My life has had a rather surreal quality to it. Sometimes, it's almost like I inhabit one of those "magical realism" novels I read.
You know, it never ceases to amaze me how some of the dullest humanoid drones, people without a thought in their head who almost never say anything interesting, can sometimes enjoy rich, satisfying support networks of friends, family, and lovers. And I wouldn't have it any other way. Good for them! I don't think you should have to EARN a good support network, it should be one's birthright. Oddly, though, to whatever limited extent that I have had such a network, it seems that I DO have to earn it. To sing for my supper, so to speak. If I'm not being funny, provocative, and a little outrageous 100% of the time, I'm being ignored....100% of the time. And being ignored can be painfully lonely ***SIGH***
Incidentially, my "non-drone" status and the fact that I poke fun at the drones doesn't mean I'm arrogant, please don't think that. For me, it's a mere accident of genetics (a decent brain) and the fact that I was fortunate enough to meet people when I was young who taught me to think critically.

Wow, this is a first for me! You always have such interesting and insightful posts that I am usually in awe of you! The fact is that I am a student and have a wonderful boyfriend right now. So, other than studying I have quite a bit of time on my hands. When I get interested in something, especialy a book or subject, I just can't put it down.Good luck on trying to lose a few pounds. And I do agree with you that being ignored makes one very lonely. At one point, I was severly depressed for about 2 years. At this time, I completely lost contact with my friends and family. I only had a friendship with my boyfriend and coworkers. I guess he kinda kept me going. I think what I am trying to say is that you may feel that you have to put on a face to keep people in your life, but that isn't neccessarily true. Those people who love you are always going to be there.
And when I am really feeling bad, I tend to think of just how yummy my therapist is. It is my fantasy world that keeps me hanging on sometimes. And he wants me to give up that fantasy world? I don't think I'm ready yet. Karen
By the way, I'm not yet tired of your witty posts, even if you are. Keep 'em comin, we can handle them!!

Wonderful, childlike, JYL? I certainly hope so. In fact if I were dictator o' The Universe, I would INSIST that the DSM-IV be modified to replace the entry for "Arrested Personality Disorder" with an entry for "ADULT Personality Disorder". Now THAT'S dysfunctional!
