just took the SAT -- and I'm 28. :D

Posted by bookgurl99 on November 3, 2003, at 23:20:19

Hey all,

I just took the SAT over the weekend. It's to help me get into a Big 10 school that I'm applying for. As I've mentioned,I attended college before, and didn't do so hot because of being unmotivated. Applying as an adult, a good SAT score can help show what I'm capable of academically, and then I personally sell them on the point that I really care this time, unlike 10 years ago.

I felt self-conscious showing up at the local high school to take the test with a bunch of 17-year-olds. But nobody pointed fingers. The proctor even smiled slightly as I handed him my entrance ticket.

I was also very anxious about my performance before the exam. I forced my partner to take me to Perkins at 6 am the day of the test just to get me out of the house. I couldn't sleep any longer, and I couldn't wait 'til 8:30 am for the test to begin!

But once the test began, I felt calm and focused. Everything was just one question to the next, try to complete as much as possible in the time allowed.

Now I'm just waiting to get the results -- both of the SAT and my subsequent college application. I'll try to let you guys know.

I am so glad to see that you are committed to your future. Good for you! It is easy for a 17 year old to take the SATs, but it takes some real initiative to take them 10 years later.

I'm glad to see you posting again. Looking forward to hearing about your progress. Do you have a school in mind?

Wow, why not an Ivy League school with those scores? Although I went to a Big Ten school too, I wish you all the best- judy

Wow! Perfect Verbals, and only a few items missed on the Math! Is it going to be Harvard, Yale or Stanford?

Ah, you guys are sweet.

Considering that last time I was in college full-time I flunked out, I don't think that any Ivy school is going to take me. I'll be thrilled to get into the University of Wisconsin; that's what I'm crossing my fingers for.

I'm feeling good though; the tech school I'm attending has good connections the the "UW," so success in one should help me get into the other.

WOW!!! You're one bright cookie! And, with that perfect verbal score---obviously, your screen name is very apt! And a pretty darn great math score too!
Congratulations!
