Headache!

Posted by fallsfall on October 20, 2003, at 15:32:51

Headache from 3:30 AM on. Finally took something at 7. It helped some and I went to therapy where I was fine, but he seemed to think it wasn't too productive. Headache started coming back so I took a nap, then more meds. Now it doesn't hurt as much, but I am still very foggy and sleepy and my brain doesn't work.

I did have some revelations (about therapy etc.) between 3:30 and 7. I can't describe it now, because I have no brain! Can thinking like that give you a headache like this?

I'm supposed to go to a support group tonight, but I am so weary...

Looking for sympathy...

Headaches are the worst and there are so many things that could have caused it - stress, certain foods, thinking too much, not drinking enough water etc. Is it a migraine that you have?

My suggestion is to hang in there and try to do something fun between now and your session. Most people understand the frustration of headaches and they should be supportive tonight. Please don't skip your session! Treat yourself to a nice dinner or ice cream beforehand. They always help me ;-)

(((Fallsfall)))

Plenty of sympathy here. Try to have a lie down beforehand.

And you can't expect to have a productive session under the circumstances. Don't worry about it.

I'd love to hear your revelations if they return to you. I find that middle of the night revelations are either extremely profound or end up being nonsensical and entertaining in the light of day. I hope yours is the extremely profound type. :)

I know headaches can be very painful, sorry you're feeling bad.
Your therapy maybe wasn't productive, as your therapist said, because um, you weren't feeling good?
I feel bad for you, may I ask, do you just take OTC stuff or migraine medication?
Hope you make it to your support group tonight, if not, I still hope you feel better soon.

Fallsfall,
You asked: "Can thinking like that give you a headache like this?".
I think that I would answer "No, but having such a headache can make you think like that."
Please take care of yourself. I find that with my headaches, rest, sometimes walks, and any non-strenuous activities tend to help. Headaches are truly the worst, because they hurt the one part of you that you really need and constantly use.
You have a fabulous mind. Please take care of it.
Dee.

I didn't go to the group. I saw my pdoc and my therapist this morning. I think I could live without the support group on the same day.

The head still hurts. Time to go to bed and see if that helps.

I usually take Cataflam (prescription), which is an NSAID that didn't conflict with my Lithium (I'm not taking Lithium any more, but I still like the Cataflam). It is usually very effective.

I do think that the dull therapy could be related to the headache. I hadn't really considered that.

Anyway, thank you all for your good wishes.

P.S. The ice cream did help a little...
