Yeah, I'm guessing he wouldn't get far on this board (too many PBC's by far) but the book always makes me laugh. I found the reference you mentioned:

"Mr. I Abelman, Mongoloid, Esq."

Well, he said 'Esquire', at least?

Scout's father in "To Kill a Mockingbird"-- a great book and a great movie, and Gregory Peck just died last week, sigh.

Atticus Finch was a good answer, but upon some reflection I'd take a different fictional character. Wally Lamb's second novel whose name escapes me (something like "These things are true" maybe) introduces a therapist who is a woman from India. I thought she seemed really wonderful.

You wrote:

I was around then and may have been one to suggest this book. But I found I just couldn't read it again and it seemed that others didn't respond to it quite the way I had. In spite of the length of time which has transpired since I did read it (25 +/- years), I remember Ignatius' business letter writing vividly, and in fact think of it almost every time I have to write a letter to someone I dislike - the notion of using the words you'd LIKE to use and not the ones you SHOULD use is very alluring.

Well, compared to Ignatius, I suspect Boo would be a better listener. He might not understand much of the language, but would probably tune into the voice cues. Ignatius O'Reilly, on the other hand, would probably have full control of the semantics, but totally miss the non-verbal cues.

16%. Scary.

I've never seen an inkblot except in college textbooks. But if I ever got shown one for real, it would be fun to make up something wacky.

> 4.Which best describes your relationship with your medication?

d)We're still together but I keep longing for something new and I'm looking around

I have to agree with the person who said Jessie's therapist on Once and Again.

> 6.Describe a moment in your life when you were happy. (May substitute felt slightly less grim ;)

I've been slightly less grim during cabin/hiking trips in the woods with friends.

> 7. What's your favorite comfort food?

CHOCOLATE, CHOCOLATE AND MORE CHOCOLATE. DARK AND BITTER AND EXPENSIVE.

1979 Toyota Corona hatchback. Great car. It saw me through field work in grad school. The poor thing got ranscacked by [an animal] when I left a window open one night in a campground.

> 9. What question would you like answered?

Sounds cliched, but "why are we here - what is the meaning of life (the universe, and everything)?."

> 10. You wake up and realize your depression/anxiety,etc. seems to have disappeared. Later that day you win 10 million dollars in the lottery. What do you do with it?

Get a really snazzy haircut with a top stylist. But that still leaves a lot. I'd take a trip someplace exotic. Then I'd do the usual. I'd help any family members or friends who need money, give some to a few charities, invest the rest and know that I could take any job I wanted even if the salary was a pittance.

> > 2. What percentage of your life have you been in therapy?

Well, I think I said 17%, but Shar said something about it should be in years, percent is relative to your age. Well, since I am 24, 17% is about 3.5 years I guess.
> > 3. Have you ever lied about what you saw in an inkblot?

I said no, but I've never had an "official" test... I did and emode.com quiz though, and I may have lied because they didn't look like anything to me.

> 8. Describe your first car.

Depends if you're talking about if I owned the car or not. The one I gave was actually owned by my father. The first I have owned myself (which is my car right now, and I don't own it yet!) is a 95 plum-colored Cavalier. It suits me well enough.
