> I've done the whole curriculum for living: The landmark Forum, the Advanced Course, and The Self Expression and Leadership Course. I don't know exactly how I ended on this site, but I found it and I would like to clear up a few things. The curriculum is the study of what it is to be human. They do make you sign some paperwork where you are asked if you have any mental illness and the purpose of it is because the curriculum is not a substitute for theraphy and it should not be considered theraphy. During the forum you look at things about yourself such as fixed ways of being and it can be very unconfortable for some people and therefore if you have mental problems, it's recommended that you don't do it if you don't think that you can handle looking at parts of your past and completing with them once and for all so that they don't impact and affect who you are now and what you do or don't do in the future. The whole curriculum is extremely difficult to explain but It's worth more than any college education. Most of it is in the form of distinctions. for example, in the forum I learned the distiction "Strong Suit" mine are, being adaptable, Keeping people at a distance as in not letting myself fully love them, and always trying to be the best and have everyone know it. All three are a result of events in my past. the forum gives you access to such information in which your view of life transforms because you get to see things from a different perspective where there is total clarity. In the advance course, I learned that my "act" or who I really thought I was was a victim and that I held that in place to avoid being cause in the matter of my life. In the Self expression and leadership course, I learned where I'm stopped. In the advance course you get to give up your act and you learn to invent new possibilites for yourself and your life which can be described as stopping your journey, taking a look at all the luggage that you've accumulated during your life, you get to empty the luggage and you replace what was there with possibilites. You also do a community project which calls you to play a big game in your life and really see where you are not being you possibility. I'm a coach in my second SELP right now and to be completely honest, I would not be here writting if it wasn't for this education. I would not have survived my bankruptcy, divorce, loosing my business, and my home. All those things happened less than two years ago and I can honestly say that I love my life more now than ever. I'm clear. I know what matters and what's important. I'm here in this world to make a difference. I hope this helps to clarify some past posts. sorry for this all, but I am either really "lost" or just well, uummm,...

These prices seem a bargin for just the intro cost. After that, you can take many more with only "moderate" cash exchanges---excuse me, credit card numbers seem to be needed.

I don't mean to ask this in the way I am going to BUT WTF is this????.....lmao Sorry if that a PBC warning...

I don't know exactly what they're calling it these days, but the Forum used to be an offshoot of EST (Erhard Seminar Training). It sounds like a lot of the same jargon. Do you get it?

John Travolta is a scientologist.. isn't that different from dianetics? or is it.

Yup, Forum is recycled est. They let you go to the bathroom now.. but it's still strongly discouraged. I don't like that group. It makes people send weird form-letter email sales pitches and try to sign up all their friends for the course.

Sure might be scientology. the Ron hubberd one, right. I kinda thought they were "related."

Going to the bathroom is a good thing???? hmmm. Maybe that explains my singlehood.

Anyone in Buffalo want to attend ALL the different sessions with me. I am dying to be told about my-self from tests insted of docs, friends, therapists, friends, relatives, friends...oh, I am repeating...

this is such bizarre timing. I have a coworker who i used to consider a friend till he was rather mean and nasty about a year ago. sort of out of the blue and i (Of course) blamed myself and felt awful about it. Today he apologized to me for being so mean and told me his apology stemmed from his doing the forum. (And trhat his meanness was vaguely connected to his mother) (At the time of his explaination it seemed to excuse it) He then went on to say how much The Forum has improved his life. I felt like it was more a sales pitch then an apology, but again i wasn't sure if that was just me being cynical. now i feel like yeah it was me being cynical. ...anyone have a problem with that - cause i don't. then i came home, got on my computer and look - it's mentioned again. AAAGGHHH!!! (Fade in creepy music as lights fade)

Yup, I got a similar 'apology' from a friend who'd let our realtionship lapse.. Suddenly out of the blue she wanted to have a serious talk about it.. in the background dozens of other people making similar phonecalls (calling from the forum breakroom).. then she was off, to call the next one on her list. Mere coincidence, they encourage people to mend their broken relationships, and P.S. also invite them to the next forum introduction/sales pitch..

Yup I'm cynical alright.

Tabitha, et al,
Having recently completed the forum, I understand where your concerns come from. I have a couple of observations...
1. Mending a broken or lapsed relationship is a powerful way for someone to take control of their life. And even if the conversation was a little lumpy, I invite you to consider the courage they took in risking to chose you as a place to start getting control and being honest in their life.

2. What you perceive as a sales pitch, I believe is part of the Forum's explicit goal to help as many people as possible get what they have to offer. Some people get over enthusiastic about that mission. If someone invites you to an info meeting it is because they want to have a deeper relationship with you. One thing I learned is that I have the right to choose "No" and I don't need to provide a reason. If they do not accept it, that is their issue (are they enthusiastic about their own life, or are they placing a demand upon you?). On the other hand, I invite you to listen to your inner voice, as to whether there might be something in your life where you are not getting the results you want, or where you are out of integrity in a relationship. In the Forum you will have the opportunity to examine that.

A 2-day (12 hr) course on how to use computer software costs ~$400-600. The Forum is $481 CAD (less in the USA) and gives you 3.5 full days plus a 10 wk seminar (82 hrs). What is your life worth?

Final thot: Something else I learned about distictions I make is using language. I love www.dictionary.com :) You signed your post "cynical", I'm wondering if you meant skeptical?

Cynical
-------
1. Believing or showing the belief that people are motivated chiefly by base or selfish concerns; skeptical of the motives of others: a cynical dismissal of the politician's promise to reform the campaign finance system.
2. Selfishly or callously calculating: showed a cynical disregard for the safety of his troops in his efforts to advance his reputation.
3. Negative or pessimistic, as from world-weariness: a cynical view of the average voter's intelligence.
4. Expressing jaded or scornful skepticism or negativity: cynical laughter.

Skeptical
----------
1. Marked by or given to doubt; questioning: a skeptical attitude; skeptical of political promises
2. Denying or questioning the tenets of especially a religion; "a skeptical approach to the nature of miracles"

------------
If I can choose to live my own life...I choose a big one!
---Dan
