HI Sienna

I went to an outpatient program, I'm sure they're all different, but I'm sure its nothing to be nervous about.
Mine was for depression. We learned some ways of coping with stress, and talked to each other a lot. The most memorable thing to me was that they only served de-caf!
I think the programs are really beneficial if for no other reason than that you can meet other people who understand. You don't have to exhaust yourself trying to explain.

Is yours specific in what type of illness they treat? I went to one that wasn't specific, it lumped all mental illnesses into one group and I didn't find it useful at all, actually I found it made me feel worse.

Hi Gabbi

this one puts all of us together in the first part then seprates to 3 groups with different focus. so its kinda like were all togeheter but kind of separated too. I hope it is ok. I told them a bunch of stuff today in the orientation but part of it i wish i didnt tell them. Oh well you live you learn. thanks for posting your experience its very helpful.

hope your doing well. =)

Well, I've never heard of that particular format, but it sounds like a more intensive application for people who are not a threat to themselves or others. (I'm sure the insurance companies love it too). My wife had to go full-time inpatient for about 10 days this past December, but I actually think she would have benefited more from something in the format you have described. Let us know how it goes.

hi pax
thats exactly what it is. i was inpatient for 3 days in december too. i had been inpatient before a few times. the time when i was there a long time (5 months) there were lots of activities but the other times there werent.
mostly inpatient these days i think is just for if you are a danger to yourself or others or gravely disabled.

ill keep ya updated.

yeah this isnt so many days or hours. they just want you to be there about every other day so they can keep a eye on you too. im a litlte paranoid about it but i do believe its supposed to be helpful.

i still do think i pissed of my pdoc but im probabaly just freaking out.

Ouch, jyl. Those boxes of feelings hurt when they aren't ventilated. Maybe you can loosen the tape a bit if you gently play with it a bit. Safely though, and maybe with a trusted therapist? Just enough to let some of the nasties leak out a bit. Then a little more and a little more until it doesn't hurt so much to open it.

I love your description. I always say that my bad feelings live in my stomach and the pressure builds and builds there. If I let them out of my stomach and actually feel them (which I do in the safety of my therapists office), it lets them dissipate, so that even though I feel just awful it somehow feels better than that pressure in my stomach.

thanks for writing. i dont like being paranoid but i just am anyway.

im sorry you have all that guilt and shame.
i have it too. its no fun.
i hope like dinah said that you can open it slowly and get help from a therapist.

.. and it worked!
People wrote back. You felt better.
Ahhh.
I, too, have magical powers.
(I really do!)

:-] (smiley), and I'm glad you're sounding so much better.

I liked your thread on delusional thinking. I feel that way about the hypomanic stuff I experience. Why are they trying to take away my creativity, my spark, my fun? I ask myself. Still can't quite figure out a good answer to this, either.

Please write every day about your impressions, it will be a document of your experience, besides being helpful to others who want to know more about it...

yours,
W.

magical wendy...
