Too much expected, too little of me.

I love the book title, I'm Dancing As Fast as I Can. Have never read the book, but the title is great, and seemed apt to the feeling you expressed.

You don't have to fulfill all expectations. remember the advisory they give on airplances about taking care of your own oxygen mask before trying to help someone else!!

to unhealthy coping mechanisms.

TURN OFF THE &*$# PHONE

Klonopin

Orgasms

Closet rocking

Shopping - ok, not that healthy

Any other suggestions? (Other than exercise. I may know exercise is good for me in theory, but in practice it just makes me mad, and mad is VERY bad for me in this mood. And I can't stand much food either.)

I *knew* it wasn't a good idea to have therapy as one of my main healthier coping mechanisms. My therapist always tells me to call him any time, even while he's away. And while I rarely, if ever, do, it helps me hold on.

And now I can't for a while, I am low on working alternatives. And the unhealthy ones are soooo seductive.

I'll have to talk with him about this when he comes back.

Dinah. I'm sorry I know the feeling only to well. I think noa had a good point about the air masks on planes.

Another thing, why do I feel qualified to lend others advice when I can't follow my own?????

..only a hot bath calms me down..playing how long can I keep my head under water games.I've outgrown my rubber ducks now.
One thing I miss is having someone to dry me off and tell me it's time for bed.

Yes, it is. But I must confess to being a *wee* bit afraid of using it right now. I hate those messy on board meltdowns. :( They always take so long to clean up.

Nice to see you posting again, Mair.

My basic retreat ritual involves curling up in bed to watch movies on my laptop DVD player. I also have a tiny USB nitelight on a flexi-stem that adds ambiance to the occasion. Plus I need my mentholated lipbalm and lavendar oil to use as vapo-rub.

Nature, honey. Find some quiet natural spot and just breathe, even if it's indoor gardens or an arboretum. Nature has a way of absorbing your stress and giving you back peace. Also, try a museum. They always seem to be peaceful places (for me anyway)
lots of hugs your way Dinah

although agoraphobic I find that the best thing is to go for a fast bike ride or for a run and than a hot steamy shower. Oh yea, I too love the lavender oil idea but i splash it on my-self and sometimes, when in real need of spoiling I use baby powder and off to bed.

bb all,

I find using some of my little nieces Johnson & Johnson Baby Bath with Lavendor and Calamille very calming. I also play some of my really old Barry Manalow records.(That usually clears all the teenagers from my house life a smoke alarm going off!)

My sister uses either lavendor or jasmine candles lite during a bubblebath and she takes only about 30 mins and says she feels like a new woman.

Sounds like you have already got some really good stuff ahead of me.

Just know we care and some can relate to where you are right now...

Dont for get to get 3 hugs a day...
that always helps me.

A tad too much klonopin, no self injury yet. Slept all morning. Office wants me to come in, but I'm afraid I'll look too impaired.

Not too bad, so far.
