In memory of Sar

Posted by Fi on September 10, 2002, at 5:44:50

Those of you who have been around a while will remember Sar, and how we said and did various things in her memory (http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/social/20020403/msgs/21675.html)

Including Dr Bob doing a great listing for her. If you want to read it and havent seen it; go to 'Psychobabble tips' (link near top of PSB page), then choose 'memorials' then 'sar'.

I wanted to let you know that some of the nasturtiums I planted for her are now in full bloom (no mean achievement with my haphazard gardening!) I choose them deliberately as they are brave, colourful and hardy plants, growing well on poor soil.

(If anyone wants to know what they look like, there's some pics at http://plants.montara.com/ListPages/FamPages/Tropaeola.html)

Don't forget to eat your nasturtiums! They taste great in salads; both the leaves and flowers have a peppery flavor. (Plucking off the leaves and flowers helps the plant get bushy, too.)

You picked a fine species for your remembrance of Sar. I believe it to be one of the smarter and brighter flowers in the garden.

How kind of you, Fi. Nasturiums were always my grandmother's flower & I plant them every year because of her. I dislike bright orange flowers but somehow these are so beautiful to me. Now I'll think of both my Grandma & Sar when I see them. Some people don't like the strong odour but to me they smell wonderful.

Fi,

Bless yer soul for such a thoughful memorial for Sar. I am in the process of moving HUGE nasturtiums in my yard (from the front/side yard to the back yard to hopefully cover the decaying back fence). I will now hold Sar in my heart as I am doing this work and give a little extra attention to them after the transplant to make sure they do well........Sar surely tried her best to do well.

Tears and smiles.

Thank you Fi.

Thanks,all- glad the idea was OK. (nm)
