I hear my footsteps echoing through Social

Eerie music begins to play.

Where is everyone? This place is deserted. :)

Hope everyone is off having fun.

Hey Robin.

I thought I remembered you had just started taking an antidepressant. Do you think that might be a large part of the problem? Perhaps you ought to check with your doctor, because Effexor can bring on hypomania in susceptible individuals. It was a disaster for me. Were you feeling this bad before you started the Effexor?

What's going on?

And yes, I do want to hear, or I wouldn't have asked. :)

(By the way, Niki responded to your post over on the medication board.)

Not having fun, just lump-like. My summer hypomania is officially over. Now if only the summer tourists would likewise vamoose. Traffic is so bad I'm developing freeway phobia.

Awful quiet on social. I've reverted to late night DVD watching. Went thru the entire Sex & the City Season 1 in one night (that's 12 eps).

Wow. Does your library have these? I saw most of the second season (99?) - I was on bedrest.

There's SITC here in Europe now, but I don't watch much TV. I need something brainless like that right now. I'm not having fun either.

Seasons 1-3 are out on DVD, I rented it at the video store. I had never seen it at all, since I don't have cable. I think I'm hooked.

Me, Tabitha, tragically undersexed. Probably shouldn't even watch the darn show. Makes me want to go shopping for shoes & little handbags & makeup.

I love that show. It's one of my secret vices.

It's like peeking into a whole different world. When I find a comfortable pair of shoes, I just buy a bunch of them in different colors and wear them until my husband refuses to be seen with me in public any more. Shoe shopping is totally alien to me.

But I'd do anything for Sarah Jessica Parker's body. Well, anything short of diet and exercise of course. :D

What's with women and this show? I know I know..live and let live. Maybe if it was more reality oriented I'd like it. Like, why aren't more of these people on Prozac, or living in poverty..or in a mental hospital or something? Oh ya and they get women on that show to look the way they do via cocaine and anorexia. Sorry...I am just a nihilistic wacko who thinks people (aka most of society) sucks right now.

You know, I read an interview that said she doesn't work out at all. She just genetically has good muscle tone.

Now that is my idea of a way to look great. Perhaps the genetic engineers are working on it for me.

is TV *ever* reality-oriented? even - especially - "reality" shows are nothing like most people's reality.

I know a few people who live like the women in that show do, but they look tired and I don't spend time with them ... I know a few women with bodies like SJP's, with not a heck of a lot of effort, but they don't do-up their hair or makeup, either, just work hard and get on with life ... I don't know anyone who has it all in one package, and even the women on the show don't "have it all" - read about an episode where the SJP character has 40 pairs of expensive shoes but no down payment for an apartment ... and that's really, really sad.

Hmmm. I think I'll give some thought to the attitudes expressed in Sex and the City to those in Hemingway's "The Sun also Rises" (see book club). Aside from the obvious gender point of view.

I guess that means I'll have to spend some time watching all the Sex and the City episodes again. Oh the things I'll do for literary research. (grin)

Well...fantasy is great. But...I just have a hard time thinking that most women can relate to this stuff on this t.v. show. Not exactly that everything they do on t.v. is horrible, but it is what they *don't* show. Like I said...all of the real stuff...the *bad* stuff. (And there is sure a heck of a lot of it!) Ach. I dunno.

Yeah, I agree the "reality" t.v. shows are FARRR from reality! It should be against the law for them to call it that. Where is the "truth in advertising"?

Wouldn't it be great to show a couple of characters on a cocktail of psych meds (well..I don't mean there is anything *great* about be on medication..but just to reflect the real statistics a bit better). Sounds like that gal has major OCD and major delusions about reality. Hey..we can fix that with some Chloropromazine...ok...sorry..I sound cruel there. I dunno...does that sound horrible?

Well..I think one of my fav Hemingway lines is appropriate here: "Isn't it nice to think so?". I don't think it's so much gender as it is sociological. It just seems to reinforce stereotypes that I think are very unhealthy. OK..I am a 'bummer'..sorry...heh.
