The banker is my friend

Posted by trouble on February 20, 2002, at 7:11:27

Well, this is a kind fettle of kitcsh, up all night answering posts, like a cokehead doing just one more line and then I'll get to work.
But if I'm addicted, I'm addicted, this too will pass.

It's just that I had such a hard day today and haven't said word one about it, just responding to ya'll like I'm so wise and together when man I have a lot of problems you should know about.

The thing today was the bank made a big mistake w/ my checking account, I had all kinds of documentation and they were expecting me and so I go in there thinking they'r going to reimburse me 500 dollars and it ended up w/me having to borrow $ to pay them 745 dollars.
There were 2 of them and by the time we were done a mountain of paper on the desk. Their hands were like insane rodents the way they kept running up and down the adding machine, then presenting me w/a yardsworth of ticker-tape numbers, pointing to the items and explaining what they meant. They kept coming up w/ different figures every time they'd add it up, saying you owe us 477 dollars, no wait let's try that again, oh yes I left that out, here we go, yes, you owe us 600, no, let's see...buzz buzz buzz. I was there for 3 hours and 10 minutes. I just kept saying "I don't understand" and they said yes, they did owe me 500 dollars but they had to make a dummy account for me and I had to put 700 dollars in it, this is just procedure, then they'd take the 500 they owe me out of that and all I could think was
If I had a husband none of this would be happening.
Today will be better.
Talk to you soon.

Trouble, are you sure you put your feminist education behind you? I'm pretty sure bankers (and mechanics and every other professional, not to pick on bankers) confuse and frustrate men just as cheerfully as women.
And it does sound like a frustrating day. I hope you feel better about it now? I always find that writing about such experiences takes away some of their sting. And you wrote so expressively. I can see you sitting helplessly in a growing mound of adding machine tape, waving your sheaf of documentation. No scratch that, I can't see you sitting helplessly, period. :)

Don't you just love banks?

Go here: http://www.spinella-jaffelaw.com/CASEFILES/Fiducry2.htm to read about how a Connecticut bank (Fleet) ripped off a personal estate for millions of bucks because they're GREEDY! (But let us not forget the GREEDY LAWYERS that helped them: Dayberry and Howard.)
