Hi Glenn,

I was reading your post above to Kristi and didn't want to jump in on it, but I had a question for you (probably should be a med question). You mentioned being on Geodon. I was wondering if you've ever been on Zyprexa before and if you've found the Geo effects to be comparable to the Zy? Been thinking about talking to my psych about the Geo because of the weight gain on the Zy.

Anyway I hope the weather in San Diego has been treating you better than it has here in the Bay Area. Rain, rain and more rain....

Be well,
Greg

Kristi,

I know, it so totally sucks. I'm a summertime kid, the hotter the better. The rain really brings me down. And I don't even have any slot machines or 3 card poker tables to take my mind off of it. Wanna trade? :)

Oh well, I'm off to see my psych...always the highlight of any day.

Greg

Hi Greg,

The weather in San Diego has been beautiful, but chilly. I like it, though,
when it is on the chilly side.

Yes, I have been on Zyprexa. Geodon is almost nothing like Zyprexa in the way it works.
Zyprexa was very sedating and helped my sleep tremendously; it is also known for putting on weight. Geodon is not at all sedating and can actually interfere with my sleep; that is why I take my last dose at 5 PM. And of all the atypicals (Zyprexa, Seroquel, Respidal), Geodon is the least
likely to cause weight gain. Geodon also has some wonderful anti-depressant qualities to it.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
- Take care, Glenn

It is sooooooooo funny you said that! I'm thinking about moving up that way... just to be with my bro..... he's the only family member I'm real close with, and also my best friend. The heat here is great..... and it "sprinkles" maybe twice a year. That part i love..... so I don't know if I'll ever actually make the move.

Glenn,

Thanks for the feedback. I've heard a lot of conflicting input from doctors about it and I try to get as much personal experience feedback as I can. Being an insomniac, I surely don't want anything that might interfere with my sleep patterns. The addition of Topamax and a good diet and exercise has helped me to lose a good chunk of the weight I gained with the Zyprexa.

Again, thanks for the input and hope you and yours have a great holiday!

Greg
