i cheated on tuesday night and had 3 cigarettes, then 2 the next morning! i couldn't find my nicorette...

but it is now thursday, and i've a fresh box of patches and a wad of nic in my mouth right now. last night i turned down cigs offered to me. bought some more herbals.

how's it going with you, kristi? you've smoked longer than i have, and didn't you say yr doc wants you to not have *any* nicotine (eliminating the patch, gum, etc). i would imagine the cravings are difficult.

(do smokers already smell weird to you?)

hugs
sar

Sar,
Don't worry. I cheated for months. Wouldn't buy cigarrettes but sometimes bummed the equivalent of a pack. Sometimes took the gum out of my mouth in order to light up. Eventually I stopped cheating. Then later I dropped the gum. It's been over a year and it's no longer tempting at all. And you're right. Smokers do smell funny now!

Good luck to both of you, Sar and Kristi. Keep at it.

Jane

i'm doing the 8-week patch program, but i feel sometimes a cig is in order, like when you can't find your nicorette (my lifesaver). i feel guilty bumming cigs not only because i hate bumming (even tho i know that distributing/soliciting cigs is a righteous and important part of the Smokers' Code) but because i saw a 60 yr-old woman the other day with a cigarette voice/face. i just don't want that--plus reading about AKC's mom...

one of the times i cheated i took my patches off (my friend stuck them on his forehead)

i think it's best to allow yrself some mistakes--

how long/how much do you smoke? Cigarettes are one of my only true loves, so quitting is a mental hassle, but--i just don't want to be a smoker anymore.

congrats to you, jane, on your success!

Hi!! Sar, your definately doing great.... don't worry about the times you cheated... think of all the times you would have normally had a cigarette but didn't!
God how I wish I can use the patch or the gum. I'm not doing so good on these nicotine cravings myself... cheated also... but all in all, doing ok. I still am going to hypnosis monday(surgery tuesday) just for some hopefully added support of the subconscience.
I really think your doing great... and it's nice to be able to know other people are going thru it. I work in a casino..... smoke everywhere, and the smell drives me absolutely insane.... and the funniest thing.... is how I perceive a pretty lady with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth. Is that what I looked like? Kind of keeps me going. I don't know.. for some reason, men seem to look different with smoke flying out of their mouth... than woman to me. Weird.
I'll let you know about the hypnosis on monday. Very curious.... and pretty exited. I have a degree in psychology... altho I never did anything with it. The whole thing fascinates me.

Keep it up.... thinking about you....
Hey, I haven't seen to many drunken stories.... does this mean?

JANE... THANKS FOR THE LUCK!!!!!!!!!

Kristi.

Hey Kristi,
If you're tempted to cheat again try doing it with the patch or gum instead of a cigarette. I liked the gum because of the instant gratification - more like a cigarette. And thats still less nicotine than a cigarette. Not quite what the doctor ordered but better than a cigarette. The hypnosis does sound interesting. I'd like to hear more about it.

Oh no! I've become another prostelytizer. Forgive me.

Good luck,
Jane

Hi Jane,
I'm not allowed to use either the patch or gum... I have to have the nicotine out of my system... period, that's why I'm having such a hard time. It's a long story... but I've had many surgeries and one upcoming. I'm rrrrreeeeeaaaaaalllllyy hoping hypnosis works. Thanks....
