Literally. This syndrome has a lot in common with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Symptoms include pain in the muscles and connective tissues but it does not cause damage and deformity like arthritis does. It is diagnosed by eliminating other problems first and then by checking for "tender points" at specific spots on the body. Fatigue is a large part of the syndrome and there are other cognitive and emotional aspects as well. It is often found in association with depression. Mine has been acting up in a big way lately, so I hope this makes some sense. Quilter

I don't have any tender spots, or trigger points, that hurt when they are touched. My pain is almost always a direct result from stress, or sitting for extended periods of time.

I would appreciate any input...does anyone think the fibromyalgia diagnosis is bogus?

Sef

Type in "fibromyalgia" into any search engine and you should get some hits.

Hope this helps!

Here is another link you can try:

http://chronicfatigue.about.com/health/chronicfatigue/mbody.htm

The site has information on both fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. It has links to articles about research, diagnosis, finding a doctor, treatment, alternative treatments, newsletters, support groups, etc., etc.
